It\u2019s been quiet around here because I\u2019ve been busy settling in to our new school routine, fixing a few bugs with the new site (it\u2019s almost ready), getting ready to go to Allume (thank y\u2019all so much for your support in ordering \u201cShalom In The City\u201d t-shirts!\u00a0 I\u2019m $400 away from my goal; almost everything has been purchased for my trip)\u00a0 and planning this amazing new 31 days series: The Friendship Project.<\/em><\/p>\n

Every Oct. I like to link up with over 1400 bloggers and write for 31 days on one topic.\u00a0 It\u2019s a great way to kickstart a daily writing habit, explore a topic near and dear to my heart and building community with other writers.\u00a0 This year, I\u2019m bursting with excitement about this series because I\u2019m going to have a ton of fun and you get to follow along right with me!<\/strong><\/p>\n

As most of you know, this year we moved our family #FromBostonToLA <\/a>when my husband accepted a job at a church downtown.\u00a0 We moved right in the middle of Boston\u2019s snowiest winter, which was good for building morale for skeptical kids who didn\u2019t want to move away from their friends, \u201cHey guys, did you know that right now in LA, it\u2019s 70 degrees and our apartment complex has a POOL!\u00a0 That\u2019s right, kiss those snow drifts goodbye and pack your swimsuits!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

The pool and it\u2019s glorious diversion lasted\u2026oh\u2026. about six months, then the perpetual vacation feel of SoCal wore off and we all realized one major thing:<\/p>\n

We miss our friends in Boston and making friends in a new city is hard.\u00a0 Very hard.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

One night while TC was at work, the kids and I cuddled up on the couch and had a good, ugly cry.\u00a0 As I put them to bed that evening, I realized that all the things I was telling my kids about adjusting:\u00a0 It takes time, you should go to new places, meet new people, you\u2019ll find your people, don\u2019t give into the sadness.\u00a0<\/em> I needed to hear (and act on). <\/strong><\/p>\n

What if<\/em>, I thought, I devoted my 31 Days series to finding and nurturing new friendships, for me and the kids.<\/em><\/p>\n

We\u2019re here.\u00a0 School has started, we\u2019ve paid our water bill and changed our Amazon shipping address and I\u00a0 have a completed a la Pinterest gallery wall in my kitchen, it\u2019s for really real\u2026we live in LA.\u00a0 Now, it\u2019s time to put down roots.<\/strong><\/p>\n
