My guest on the podcast this week is Rachel Hollis. Rachel Hollis the brilliant founder of the Chic Site, head of the #chictribe<\/a> and one of the most authentic women I\u2019ve ever met.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve followed her site for almost a year now and I can tell y\u2019all that every single time I read a post or watched a #RachTalk<\/a> I thought, \u2018This woman is practicing Shalom in such a profound and important way\u2019 so I knew eventually I\u2019d invite her to come onto the show. Then last Christmas, I attended a holiday party with a purpose at the Chic Site\u2019s headquarters just minutes from my house and I KNEW I needed to have her come teach us how to #PartywithPurpose<\/a> and how she practices shalom in her everyday life. It was an incredible conversation.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/iframe><\/p>\nWe talk about everything from her upbringing as a PK\u00a0 (pastor\u2019s kid) and how that inspired her to see the sacred in gathering people together.\u00a0 She shares with us the how the ChicShows Up Christmas Event came to be\u2014 which I have to say, y\u2019all was a highlight of our first Christmas in L.A.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4282\" src=\"https:\/\/shalominthecity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/chicShowsUp-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"chicShowsUp\" width=\"900\" height=\"900\"><\/p>\nWhat I loved most about the event was that is was crazy festive, (I got my Mariah Carey \u201cAll I want for Christmas\u201d sing on, for sure), but it was SHALOM IN ACTION.\u00a0 All of us worked to create a Christmas care package for families transitioning from homeless into their new homes.<\/p>\nCRAFTS for the babies.\u00a0 Rachel thoughtfully planned these packages to love on every single person in the family.\u00a0 What an amazing Shalom Sista!<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4283\" src=\"https:\/\/shalominthecity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_2285-e1465845247324-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2285\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\"><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\nI was working at the pumpkin pie mason jars station.\u00a0 I smelled amazing at the end of the event!<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4284\" src=\"https:\/\/shalominthecity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_2287-e1465845272205-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2287\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\"><\/p>\nPier One partner with the Chic Site by providing cute aprons for the care packages.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4285\" src=\"https:\/\/shalominthecity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_2288-e1465845334739-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2288\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\"><\/p>\nEven Rachel\u2019s family showed up to party with a purpose.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4286\" src=\"https:\/\/shalominthecity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_2296-e1465845356740-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2296\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\"><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\nHere\u2019s Rachel\u2019s Shalom Steps to help us ease into gathering and loving people with a purpose.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4287\" src=\"https:\/\/shalominthecity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/RachelHollisShalomSteps.jpg\" alt=\"RachelHollisShalomSteps\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\"><\/p>\n<h2>On the episode we talk about:<\/h2>\nHow <a href=\"http:\/\/jenhatmaker.com\/interrupted.htm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Interrupted by Jen Hatmaker<\/a> that changed her life<\/p>\nHer favorite coffee shop is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.priscillascoffee.com\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Priscilla\u2019s in Burbank<\/a>, which since we tape the show (back in March) I\u2019ve visited at least once as week, y\u2019all.\u00a0 I have a problem :).<\/p>\nShe\u2019s involved in<a href=\"http:\/\/www.doorofhope.us\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"> Door of Hope<\/a>, a faith-based organization in Los Angeles whose mission is to equip homeless families and rebuild their lives.<\/p>\nand her book series, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Rachel-Hollis\/e\/B00J237V5I\/ref=sr_tc_2_0?qid=1465846698&sr=8-2-ent\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201cThe Girls\u201d <\/a>was a spark of joy and Jesus\u2019 way of saying, \u201cI see you, Osheta.\u00a0 You need to laugh right now\u201d for me when my mother in law died last fall.<\/p>\nShe also mentions these homeless care packages that she keeps in her care.\u00a0 I\u2019m so moved by the needs of the homeless community and I\u2019m always asking God how to practically care for them, especially in this season of mothering, these were genius.
