The Art of Manliness <\/a><\/p>\n

Peacemaking is hard.\u00a0 Living wholeheartedly when you\u2019re feeling broken by the your circumstances or current events takes courage.\u00a0 Loving kiddos with bad attitudes and the co-worker who reminds you of the mean girl in your high school requires commitment.\u00a0 And, to be honest, peacemaking seems like such a lofty goal that requires a trip to Calcutta to learn from Mother Teresa\u2019s acolytes\u2014 \u2018aint nobody got time for that!<\/p>\n

Which is why I\u2019ve written a manifesto for us peacemaking women, Shalom Sistas, if you will.<\/p>\n

Shalom is God\u2019s dream for the world as it should be, and wherever we seek to practice peace right where we are, we\u2019re helping make that dream come true.<\/h2>\n

These twelve points will be lanterns on our pathway towards peace. I love to get super practical so that\u2019s why I created this 12-point actionable list.\u00a0 I\u2019m almost too Type-A to function ;).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Why \u201cSista\u201d<\/h2>\n

Because we belong to each other.<\/h2>\n

The Bible says,<\/p>\n

\u201cblessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God.\u201d\u00a0 <\/a><\/p>\n

This tells me that peacemaking is in our spiritual DNA\u2014we can live into this familial trait as sisters. Which is thrilling and terrifying at the same time. The world needs a mighty army of women rising up together to stand for peace.<\/p>\n

Sister\/ Sista\/ Which One<\/h2>\n

My husband says, the older I get the more Southern I sound. He\u2019s caught me extending the \u201ci\u201d when I say rice and my \u201cy\u2019alls\u201d are way more pronounced than ever. Whatever. I\u2019m owning it. \u00a0 So, when I say \u201csister\u201d it inevitably comes out, \u201csista\u201d. But know this Sweet Sista,\u00a0 if, \u201cSister\u201d is more comfortable for you, then just go with it. This is\u00a0 Shame Free Sisterhood!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Once a week, I\u2019ll write about a Manifesto point to flesh it out for y\u2019all.\u00a0 Some are pretty self-explanatory (Grace, anyone?)\u00a0 and some are a little tricky, like, \u201cHold up, you want me to actually listen<\/em> to my jealousy\u2026what do you mean\u2026where\u2019s the peace in that<\/em>?\u201d Super great question!\u00a0 Stick around the blog for a bit and you\u2019ll find out.<\/p>\n
