My children are all geeks. [Proud Mama grin] Back when my oldest (who is turning 30 this year) was in middle school, her math teacher brought a pie to school on March 14 because 3.14 = pi and all. That was the start of an Allen family tradition. Every March 14^{th<\/sup> since, we have an all pie dinner.<\/p>\n}

I LOVE PIE.<\/p>\n

I was up early yesterday to get the banana cream pie (in a chocolate chip cookie crust, because YES, PLEASE) prepped and into the fridge with enough time for it to set up properly. Then I got a requested apple pie into the oven.<\/p>\n

For a while there, it looked like Pi Day wasn\u2019t going to happen this year, because my house is currently a construction site. My husband and my favorite brother kicked serious butt to get things buttoned up enough by mid-afternoon yesterday so that it would be safe for The World\u2019s Best Baby (my grandson) to come over for his first Pi Day as a participant.<\/p>\n

My husband (did I mention that he is a chef?) took a break from rebuilding our living quarters to whip up a killer turkey pot pie to go along with my dessert pies. \u00a0An online check-in from some cousins from Guernsey, Channel Islands, inspired me to add a potato peel pie to the mix. So, that happened, too.<\/p>\n

The house got put back together again in the nick of time.<\/p>\n

My daughter\u2019s family arrived with a very hungry toddler. I am delighted to report that like the rest of us, he, too, loves pie. \u00a0Everyone should be looked at with as much love and delight as that little boy looked at his banana cream pie.<\/p>\n
