When I ask my kids an impossible question in a high-pressure situation \u2014 say, something like, \u201cYou thought it was okay to use a toilet plunger, a real, used toilet plunger, that is used for REAL POOP, for your Dalek costume?\u00a0 What were you thinking?\u00a0 Huh?\u00a0 What made you think that was okay?\u201d \u2014 <\/em>they don\u2019t know what to say.\u00a0 They\u2019re the ones who put themselves in that situation, and yet they know and I know that there is no acceptable answer to the question.\u00a0 But I\u2019m all caught up in the passion of the moment, and I actually stand there, glaring at them, waiting for an answer.\u00a0 More than once, the answer I\u2019ve gotten is \u201d . . . bep . . . \u201d<\/p>\n I don\u2019t know what \u201cbep\u201d means.\u00a0 It\u2019s some kind of croaking that comes straight from the soul of a person who\u2019s face to face with the impossible, I guess.<\/p>\n \u201cBep\u201d is more or less what Miss Utah said in a widely circulated, widely mocked\u00a0video from the Miss USA Pageant.\u00a0 Someone named Nene Leakes asked her, \u201cA recent report shows that in 40 percent of American families with children, women are the primary earners, yet they continue to earn less than men. What does this say about society?\u201d\u00a0 Here\u2019s\u00a0Miss Utah\u2019s\u00a0response:
