<\/a><\/p>\nThe\u00a0Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/em>\u2018 observant and opinionated journalist Steve Lopez<\/a> is often irritating but always honest about life in the city of angels. In\u00a0Sunday\u2019s paper Lopez recounts his visit<\/a> last Friday to A.J. Duffy, president of United Teachers Los Angeles<\/a>. Duffy reacted negatively, as would be expected, to the\u00a0L.A. Times<\/em>recent investigation and values-added formula analysis<\/a> of teachers.\u00a0Los Angeles Times<\/em> published on its website a database of names and grades of teachers in the L.A. Unified School District<\/a> , the largest in the nation in terms of students. Duffy organized a march by union members at the\u00a0Los Angeles Times<\/em> building and even canceled his subscription to the\u00a0Times<\/em> in protest.<\/p>\n But Duffy and his colleagues at the American<\/a> Federation of Teachers (AFT<\/a>) and the National Education Association (NEA<\/a>) haven\u2019t seen anything yet. When they and their members get a look at Oscar<\/a>-winning director David Guggenheim\u2019s (\u201cAn Inconvenient Truth<\/a>\u201c) new documentary, \u201cWaiting for Superman<\/a>,\u201d they may well get angry, too, but hopefully for the right reasons.<\/p>\n Click here to continue reading\u00a0Waiting for Superman review<\/a><\/p>\n
