In a lecture on film ethics, a minister once asked his students: \u201cup until 50 years ago, people learned values, ethics, morals, and spirituality through their sacred texts and clergy. Today, much of our culture learns about these things through the movies. How can we enhance our lives through a deeper understanding of this powerful media?\u201d<\/p>\n

This question and others will be explored in a conversation with Sr. Rose Pacatte, F.S.P., renown author, critic, media scholar and master of ceremonies of the forthcoming Congress Film Showcase at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress in Anaheim (Friday, February 22). Join us for this public discussion on popular media\u2019s impact on Catechesis and ministry in the Church.<\/p>\n

Rose Pacatte, F.S.P. is an award-winning author and columnist, media literacy specialist, scholar and the current director of the Pauline Center for Media Studies in Los Angeles. Sr. Rose has served on juries of some of the world\u2019s most prestigious film festivals, including Toronto, Venice and Berlin; as well as our local City of Angeles and Newport Beach Film Festivals. She is a member of the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE), Catholics in Media Associates (CIMA), and SIGNIS, the World Catholic Association for Communication.
