This is nicely done:<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iohQID8SY2M\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iohQID8SY2M<\/a>\n<p>* * * * * * * * *<\/p>\n<p><em>Christianity Today<\/em> reports: \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.christianitytoday.com\/ctliveblog\/archives\/2012\/10\/second-circuit-says-doma-defense-of-marriage-act-unconstitutional.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Silver Lining for Churches in Second Circuit Deciding DOMA Is Unconstitutional<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, for <em>CT<\/em>, every ray of sunshine has a silver lining. Or something.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s pretty amazing when a Christian news-outlet announces a step toward legal equality for minorities by assuring readers that it\u2019s not <em>all<\/em> bad news. There might still be a \u201csilver lining.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>* * * * * * * * *<\/p>\n<p>Southern Baptist \u201cethics\u201d spokesman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/slacktivist\/tag\/richard-land\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Richard Land<\/a> says that his emphasis on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightwingwatch.org\/content\/land-fight-abortion-gay-marriage-mlk-fighting-racial-justice\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">opposing legal abortion and LGBT rights is just like Martin Luther King<\/a> Jr.\u2019s emphasis on \u201cracial reconciliation and racial justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I guess what Land means is that the Southern Baptist Convention is as determined now to champion immorality and cruel oppression as it was during the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. OK then.<\/p>\n<p>* * * * * * * * *<\/p>\n<p>Evangelicals stand for \u201cabsolute truth\u201d and \u201cobjective truth.\u201d They decry \u201cpostmodernism\u201d as an insidious evil that threatens God\u2019s righteousness, the authority of scripture, family values, truth, justice and the American way.<\/p>\n<p><em>Postmodernism?<\/em> They\u2019re against it.<\/p>\n<p>Except for when it comes to \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/ezra-klein\/wp\/2012\/10\/16\/the-romney-campaigns-postmodern-approach-to-policy\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Romney campaign\u2019s postmodern approach to policy<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201dThere are all these studies out there,\u201d Romney says. Like, you\u2019ve got your truth, and I\u2019ve got mine, man. It\u2019s the most postmodern thing I\u2019ve seen since I was an undergraduate at UC Santa Cruz.<\/p>\n<p>This is how the Romney campaign has treated numbers in general. \u2026 What matters isn\u2019t whether the Romney campaign\u2019s numbers add up. It\u2019s whether they\u2019ve got a bunch of numbers to throw at the Obama campaign\u2019s numbers, and at the analyses from independent experts. \u201cThere are all these studies out there.\u201d And who knows? Maybe they\u2019re right.
