Whether he is or not <a href=\"http:\/\/maddowblog.msnbc.com\/_news\/2012\/10\/17\/14509640-trying-and-failing-to-defend-self-deportation\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">depends completely on what happens on Nov. 6<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>* * * * * * * * *<\/p>\n<p>This (funny) video highlights <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhrealitycheck.org\/video\/2012\/10\/12\/no-joke-choice-matters-everywhere\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the barriers to healthcare women face in many parts of the world<\/a>, such as in countries where a husband\u2019s consent is required to get birth control.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of this project is to help improve women\u2019s access to health care around the world by working to remove such barriers. I\u2019m worried, though, that someone like Texas Gov. In England, they have charming eccentrics whose fascination with unexplained phenomena and Forteana leads them to write books about local legends and to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.runcornandwidnesweeklynews.co.uk\/runcorn-widnes-news\/runcorn-widnes-local-news\/2012\/10\/18\/satanists-and-early-alien-abductee-cult-leader-among-weird-and-wonderful-topics-up-for-discussion-during-paranormal-week-in-halton-55368-32048438\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">give the occasional lecture at the public library<\/a>. In America, we have much angrier cranks who believe even stranger things, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tnr.com\/blog\/plank\/108689\/five-ridiculous-congressional-candidates-who-will-probably-win\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">we elect them to Congress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 I don\u2019t disagree with Dean Baker lightly, but the headline on this post of his is simply not true: \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepr.net\/index.php\/blogs\/beat-the-press\/not-just-tax-increases-but-any-deficit-reduction-will-cost-jobs\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Not Just Tax Increases, but ANY Deficit Reduction Will Cost Jobs<\/a>.\u201d The substance of the post is fine, but that headline is just wrong. We\u2019ve got 7.8 percent unemployment. That means that right now the best way to reduce the deficit is to put the unemployed back to work. Creating jobs <em>is<\/em> deficit reduction. And creating jobs will not cost jobs. Massive investment in infrastructure, right now, would reduce the deficit.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u201cAgain I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favour to the skilful; <a href=\"http:\/\/baselinescenario.com\/2012\/10\/16\/luck-wealth-and-richard-posner\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">but time and chance happen to them all<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Josh Romney is a handsome fellow. <a href=\"http:\/\/wonkette.com\/487077\/dont-turn-off-the-lights-the-most-frightening-moment-of-the-obama-romney-rumble\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Rebecca Schoenkopf<\/a> thinks he has Patrick Bateman-like good looks, but I\u2019d say he looks more like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/copyranter\/the-best-of-menacing-josh-romney\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a young Robert Redford<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.bread.org\/2012\/10\/quote-of-the-day-.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Dude abides<\/a>: \u201cWe must end our national problem of hunger through national and political leadership. Charity is nice for some things, but not as a way to feed a nation.
