Grew up with \u2018em. \u2026\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/townhall.com\/columnists\/mattbarber\/2013\/01\/14\/civil-wars-abrewin-n1488490\/page\/full\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">I plan to buy more \u2013 a bunch more<\/a>. In fact, who\u2019s to say I don\u2019t already have a veritable arsenal?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are used to defend our property and our families and our faith and our freedom, and they are absolutely <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/01\/18\/tim-donnelly-god-guns-essential-republican_n_2505537.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">essential to living the way God intended for us to live<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess we need armed guards for the police. And\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seeingtheforest.com\/archives\/2013\/01\/need_armed_guar.htm#.UPs5giZGJ5Q\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">when they start getting shot we will need armed guards for the armed guards<\/a>\u00a0for the police. And when they start getting shot \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/article\/20121225\/OPINION04\/312250068\/Letter-editor-God-forgiveness-isn-t-terrorist?nclick_check=1\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">no statistical correlation between the exercise of prayer<\/a>, or respect for the Ten Commandments, and some immunity to mass shootings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.juancole.com\/2013\/01\/firearms-children-afghanistan.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13114\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/52\/2013\/01\/firearsmschild3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"570\" height=\"337\"><\/a>\u201cPolice said the two were sitting across from each other in a booth \u2026 when the man reached into his front pants pocket and accidentally\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/articles\/2013\/01\/09\/guns-are-dangerous-for-everyone.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">discharged a small pistol, striking his wife in the leg just above the knee<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/justice\/2013\/01\/19\/1473881\/two-people-accidentally-shot-at-a-gun-show-safety-checkpoint-on-gun-appreciation-day\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">5 People Shot at 3 Different Gun Shows on Gun Appreciation Day<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere ought to be <a href=\"http:\/\/brucegarrett.com\/brucelog\/6813\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">some big national organization out there that provides firearm safety courses<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA <a href=\"http:\/\/thenewcivilrightsmovement.com\/gun-appreciation-day-so-how-many-people-in-america-were-shot-and-killed-today\/news\/2013\/01\/19\/58774\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">quick search on Google news for \u2018shooting\u2019<\/a> on late Saturday night, Gun Appreciation Day, offered these headlines. \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe true source of the NRA\u2019s political power \u00a0\u2014 lobbying and fundraising \u2014 is <a href=\"http:\/\/paulbibeau.blogspot.com\/2013\/01\/youll-shoot-your-eye-out-kid-by-joe.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the perfect demonstration of how irrelevant their cause really is<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I guess it\u2019s true that blacks wouldn\u2019t have been slaves if they had guns,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/national\/archive\/2013\/01\/martin-luther-king-makes-everything-better\/267103\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">much like it\u2019s true that blacks wouldn\u2019t have been slaves if there was no such thing as American slavery<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEventually, any conversation about gun control in America ends with someone, somewhere opposed to new gun regulations\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2013\/01\/obama-hitler-gun-control.php\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">comparing the proponents to Adolf Hitler<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI couldn\u2019t blow this guy away for something he could change later in life.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theroot.com\/buzz\/hate-crime-victim-had-gun-didnt-shoot-attacker\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">I\u2019m not going to decide this man\u2019s fate<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to a survey from the National Association of Evangelicals, <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/justice\/2013\/01\/11\/1435561\/73-percent-of-evangelical-leaders-support-increased-gun-regulations\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">nearly three-quarters of evangelical leaders support increasing restrictions on guns<\/a> as a way to curb America\u2019s gun violence epidemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe point is: <a href=\"http:\/\/azspot.net\/post\/40881592417\/a-sea-change-in-the-firearms-debate\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Things change. Goliaths fall.
