Of the Korahites. A Psalm.<\/p>\n<p>Hear this, all you peoples;<br>\ngive ear, all inhabitants of the world,<br>\nboth low and high,<br>\nrich and poor together.<br>\nMy mouth shall speak wisdom;<br>\nthe meditation of my heart shall be understanding.<br>\nI will incline my ear to a proverb;<br>\nI will solve my riddle to the music of the harp.<\/p>\n<p>Why should I fear in times of trouble,<br>\nwhen the iniquity of my persecutors surrounds me,<br>\nthose who trust in their wealth<br>\nand boast of the abundance of their riches?<br>\nTruly, no ransom avails for one\u2019s life,<br>\nthere is no price one can give to God for it.<br>\nFor the ransom of life is costly,<br>\nand can never suffice,<br>\nthat one should live on for ever<br>\nand never see the grave.<\/p>\n<p>When we look at the wise, they die;<br>\nfool and dolt perish together<br>\nand leave their wealth to others.<br>\nTheir graves are their homes for ever,<br>\ntheir dwelling-places to all generations,<br>\nthough they named lands their own.<br>\nMortals cannot abide in their pomp;<br>\nthey are like the animals that perish.<\/p>\n<p>Such is the fate of the foolhardy,<br>\nthe end of those who are pleased with their lot.<br>\n<em>Selah<\/em><br>\nLike sheep they are appointed for Sheol;<br>\nDeath shall be their shepherd;<br>\nstraight to the grave they descend,<br>\nand their form shall waste away;<br>\nSheol shall be their home.<br>\nBut God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol,<br>\nfor he will receive me.<br>\n<em>Selah<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Do not be afraid when some become rich,<br>\nwhen the wealth of their houses increases.<br>\nFor when they die they will carry nothing away;<br>\ntheir wealth will not go down after them.<br>\nThough in their lifetime they count themselves happy<br>\n\u2014for you are praised when you do well for yourself\u2014<br>\nthey will go to the company of their ancestors,<br>\nwho will never again see the light.<br>\nMortals cannot abide in their pomp;<br>\nthey are like the animals that perish.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Psalm 49: &#8220;Do not be afraid when some become rich, when the wealth of their houses increases.
