He wouldn\u2019t be spouting such nasty stuff on TV if his father was still alive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thekingcenter.org\/archive\/document\/family-planning-special-and-urgent-concern#\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-27299 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/52\/2015\/03\/Screen-shot-2015-03-16-at-12.35.56-PM-300x261.png\" alt=\"Screen shot 2015-03-16 at 12.35.56 PM\" width=\"300\" height=\"261\"><\/a>\u2022 \u201c<span style=\"color: #000000\">Words are inadequate for me to say how honored I was to be the recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award. You haven\u2019t really arrived <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/women\/2015\/march\/choose-your-own-sexual-ethics-adventure.html?paging=off\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">until <em>Christianity Today<\/em> officially denounces you as a danger to the morals of the youth<\/a>. It\u2019s a bit of a perfunctory, fill-in-the-blanks piece of hand-wringing, with <em>CT\u2019s<\/em> patented faux-lamentation, always \u201cmore in sadness than in anger.\u201d But they spelled her\u00a0name right and the Streisand effect will, happily, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Damaged-Goods-Perspectives-Christian-Purity\/dp\/1455577391\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">help to spread the word about Anderson\u2019s book<\/a>, and that\u2019s all good.<\/p>\n<p>For those keeping score at home, this article also marks a key milestone for the important critique of evangelical purity culture being made by Anderson and dozens of other whipsmart young Christian women. The review abandons any attempt to <em>defend<\/em> purity culture against this critique, opting instead for the old dismissal-by-concession trick \u2014 the preferred strategy of those seeking a softer landing after\u00a0having utterly lost the argument. Reviewer Gina Dalfonzo repeatedly refers to the \u201cwidely documented problems\u201d of purity culture and its \u201cfaulty teaching\u201d \u2014 hand-waving away the substance of this critique\u00a0as old news that she hopes readers won\u2019t pay any further attention to. It\u2019s the attempt to shift directly from <em>ignoring<\/em> an argument in the hopes that it will go away to <em>conceding<\/em> the argument in the hopes that it will go away.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s not going away.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u201cWhen women hate men, we hurt their feelings. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2015\/mar\/13\/feminists-do-not-hate-men\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">When men hate women, they kill us<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Remember the horrifying story from last year of two 12-year-old girls in Wisconsin who allegedly stabbed a classmate 19 times in a delusional attempt to please the fictional monster Slenderman? Well, now the story has gotten worse. The state of Wisconsin has declared that it, too, believes in fictional monsters. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rs\/2015\/03\/wisconsin-slenderman-teen-suspects-will-be-tried-for-attempted-homicide-as-adults\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The two young suspects will be tried as adults<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There is no such thing as Slenderman. There is no such thing as a 12-year-old adult. Every judge and prosecutor who has ever sought to try a juvenile \u201cas an adult\u201d winds up echoing every awful thing that every statutory rapist has ever said. It\u2019s absurd nonsense.
