They\u2019re upset because the president talked about the use of the N-word. Mainly, though, they seem to be upset because they\u2019re not allowed to use that word <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/2015\/06\/elisabeth-hasselbecks-head-explodes-after-obama-uses-n-word-in-honest-discussion-on-race\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">and they <em>really, really want to<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u201c<span style=\"color: #444444\">This is the fiction evangelicalism is predicated on: there is this plain reading of the Bible\u00a0and\u00a0anyone who sincerely sits down and reads the Bible, regardless of their education, regardless of their background, can get it. <a href=\"http:\/\/religiondispatches.org\/how-marketers-invented-old-time-religion\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">But you end up getting problems<\/a>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"http:\/\/splcenter.org\/blog\/2015\/06\/20\/charleston-shooters-alleged-manifesto-reveals-hate-group-helped-to-radicalize-him-online\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Old friends of our old friend The Liar Tony Perkins<\/a> are back in the headlines:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/splcenter.org\/blog\/2015\/06\/20\/charleston-shooters-alleged-manifesto-reveals-hate-group-helped-to-radicalize-him-online\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-28470\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/52\/2015\/06\/TheLiarTonyPerkins.jpg\" alt=\"TheLiarTonyPerkins\" width=\"500\" height=\"424\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/achurchforstarvingartists.wordpress.com\/2015\/05\/12\/lack-of-curiosity-might-be-a-sin\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Lack of curiosity might be a sin<\/a>.\u201d I don\u2019t think that needs to be qualified. Lack of curiosity <em>is<\/em> a sin. Incuriosity always winds up killing\u00a0a lot more than cats.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u201cI<span style=\"color: #606060\">f <a href=\"http:\/\/mightygodking.com\/2015\/06\/22\/jurassic-world-the-series\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><em>House<\/em> for dinosaurs doesn\u2019t sound awesome to you<\/a>, you\u2019re just a very different person from me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Waffle House managers deserve to be\u00a0scattered, smothered and covered\u00a0over this: \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/economy\/2015\/06\/15\/3669665\/waffle-house-pregnant-fired\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Woman Alleges Waffle House Manager Asked, \u2018You\u2019re Pregnant Again?\u2019 Then Fired Her for Pregnancy<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last month, a Houston nonprofit called <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/economy\/2015\/05\/29\/3663986\/no-pregnancy-policy\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">United Bible Fellowship Ministries was forced to pay $75,000 to a former employee fired for her pregnancy<\/a>. United Bible, \u201cwhich provides housing and residential care to clients with disabilities,\u201d was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eeoc.gov\/eeoc\/newsroom\/release\/5-27-15.cfm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">sued by the EEOC<\/a> for \u201can unlawful \u2018no pregnancy in the workplace\u2019 policy which prohibited the continued employment of any employee who became pregnant.\u201d Nothing says \u201cpro-life\u201d like treating pregnancy as a firing offense.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Good long read from <em>Fast Company\u2019s<\/em> Jon Gertner: \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/3046756\/obama-and-his-geeks\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Inside Obama\u2019s Stealth Startup<\/a>.\u201d The right stuff.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan spun a web of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vox.com\/2015\/6\/22\/8823779\/kimble-marvel-spiderman-jokes\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Spider-Man references in her ruling on <\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vox.com\/2015\/6\/22\/8823779\/kimble-marvel-spiderman-jokes\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Kimble v. But that doesn\u2019t lower my respect for\u00a0Tullian Tchividjian as much as this, from his non-apology \u201cstatement\u201d to the media: \u201c<span style=\"color: #111111\">As many of you know, I returned from a trip a few months back and discovered that my wife was having an affair.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Pretty sleazy.
