\u201cImprovisation in the theatre is a practice through which actors develop trust in themselves and one another in order that they may conduct unscripted dramas without fear.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been encouraged recently by some early readers of this chapter to make the improv metaphor robust\u2026<\/p>\n

This morning as I was getting ready to work on this chapter, I stumbled upon a great blog post by my friend Jen Michel<\/a>, in which she reflects on Tina Fey\u2019s thoughts on improv in her recent book Bossypants<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 I went and dug up this passage [CLICK HERE<\/a> to read the passage in Google Books \u2014 Scroll up after clicking, the passage is in the gray box. ]. There is a lot of good stuff here but my imagination was captured by two thoughts:
\n<\/p>\n

1) [The Second Rule of Improv] \u201cYES, AND means don\u2019t be afraid to contribute. It\u2019s your responsibility to contribute. Always make sure you\u2019re adding something to the discussion. Your initiations are worthwhile.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> (No one is a passive observer in the biblical drama).<\/p>\n

2) \u201cTHERE ONLY NO MISTAKES, only opportunities.\u201d <\/em><\/strong>(This seems to ring true with an eschatology of God\u2019s reconciliation of all things)<\/p>\n
