The Daily Examine is one of the key aspects of St. Ignatius of Loyola\u2019s classic spiritual exercises. \u00a0Using this daily examine at the close of every day is a wonderful way to offer our day to God, work through any problems the day presented, and prepare for the next day.<\/p>\n

There are five steps to The Daily Examine. \u00a0We recommend you practice this while sitting quietly in a straight-backed chair for the best focus.<\/p>\n

1. Become aware of the presence of God<\/strong>: Light a candle, say a short prayer, breathe deeply. \u00a0Take time to separate this moment from the rest of the day and to come into God\u2019s presence. \u00a0You may even use an icon to help you.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Review the day with thanksgiving<\/strong>: In your mind review your day from the beginning to the moment you sit down for the examine. \u00a0Think of this review as recounting the day to God. \u00a0Thank God for the numerous blessings you now recognize that God provided.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Think about your emotions throughout the<\/strong> day<\/strong>: What did you feel, why and in what circumstance? \u00a0Paying attention to our emotions can reveal important clues to how God may have been working and our response.<\/p>\n

4. Choose one part of the day and pray from it<\/strong>: \u00a0Ask God to guide you to one moment and pray from it. \u00a0It could have been a moment that excited you, troubled you, etc. \u00a0Once you settle on the moment pray from it with whatever prayer is appropriate\u2013thanksgiving, confession, intercession.<\/p>\n

5. Look at the next day<\/strong>: Prepare for tomorrow with God. \u00a0Think about what will come, what\u2019s on the agenda and what surprises might be on the path. \u00a0Pray that God will guide you and that you will follow God\u2019s way and lead throughout the day.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
