<\/iframe> \nOne thing struck me as I watched Donald Trump give his inaugural speech: he barely spoke about himself.<\/p>\nIn fact, looking through a transcript, I found he did so only three times:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\u201cThe oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans\u2026.<\/p>\n\u201cI will fight for you with every breath in my body \u2013 and I will never, ever let you down.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\nIt took just over six minutes for him to speak in the first person. The rest of the 16.5-minute speech, the newly sworn-in president spoke about the rest of us: We the People.<\/p>\n\u201cWe, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and to restore its promise for all of our people,\u201d President Trump said. \u201cTogether, we will determine the course of America and the world for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\nAnd then he added, \u201cJanuary 20th, 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again.\u201d<\/p>\nFormer President Obama \u2014 ah, that felt good to say \u2014 never said anything like that.<\/p>\nIf he were to have given the speech, it would\u2019ve sounded like he was warming up his voice to sing: \u201cme, me, me, me, me.\u201d<\/p>\nThere have been so many examples over the last years that his speeches, even speeches he gave campaigning for Hillary Clinton, where he referenced himself \u2014 \u201cI\u201d or \u201cme,\u201d hundreds of times and often in just ONE speech.<\/p>\nIt was so refreshing to hear an unselfish speech for once. \u00a0In fact, it makes me almost giddy that the Oval Office has been relieved of such ego. Thank you, President Trump, for confirming what our Founding Fathers believed. WE hold the power, not Washington.<\/p>\nClick CONTINUE to contrast this with Obama\u2019s farewell address, in which he referred to himself 83 times:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\"
