\u201cWell therefore you can\u2019t forgive unless you know as much as possible about the whole situation and the person involved. That makes sense doesn\u2019t it?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo here are four \u2018g\u2019 to do so you can forgive. It\u2019s \u2018Four Gs\u2019 to \u2018ForGive\u2019 Got it?\u2019<\/p>\n
Mr Magnanimous continues, \u201cFirst \u2018G\u2019 is \u2018Gather the information.\u2019 Did you know Jimmy is from a family of five boys and they\u2019re all football players and wrestlers and when their Dad comes home instead of giving them a hug he gives them a punch on the arm because that\u2019s how they love each other. Maybe Jimmy, when he wrestles you and picks on you is actually just being your buddy. Had you ever thought of that?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, it could be. So you have to gather the information. Second \u2018G\u2019 is \u2018Give the Benefit of the Doubt\u2019 Believe it or not Jimmy doesn\u2019t get up in the morning trying to plan how to be a nasty person. Nobody does that. Not even Darth Vader. Everybody means well even if they mess up sometimes so you should give them the benefit of the doubt. That means you think they mean well even if they mess up. It\u2019s like that with you isn\u2019t it? You don\u2019t mean to get it wrong on purpose do you?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo. What\u2019s the next \u2018G\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cGet into their skin. Try to understand the other person\u2019s perspective. Try to imagine what it\u2019s like to be Jimmy. Then you will be able to forgive him because you\u2019ll see he\u2019s a person just like you with some problems but also with some strengths and good stuff. Okay so far?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe last \u2018G\u2019 is \u2018Go the the person.\u2019 This is the really hard one. You have to get up the courage to go to the person and sort things out\u2013not just complain about things and talk behind people\u2019s backs. Can you do that?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI dont\u2019 think so.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe you won\u2019t be able to forgive. But I think you can do it,\u201d said Mr Magnanimous \u201cbecause you\u2019re a good person who wants to do the right thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo remember the four G\u2019s \u2013 Gather the Information. Give the Benefit of the Doubt. Get into their skin. Go the the person. Then there is a fifth \u2018G\u2019.
