London\u2019s Daily Telegraph reports here<\/a> on the plight of Meriam Ibrahim\u2013a Sudanese Christian woman who is pregnant and has been sentenced to death for renouncing Islam. She is being held in a Sudanese jail along with her infant son.<\/p>\n

An eight-months pregnant woman is being kept shackled to the wall of her cell as she awaits hanging, her husband has said after visiting her in prison.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meriam Ibrahim, 26, was sentenced to death in\u00a0Sudan<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>on Thursday for refusing to recant her Christianity and for marrying Christian Daniel Wani \u2013 a Sudanese man with US citizenship who lives in New Hampshire<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

The court found her guilty of apostasy \u2013 leaving Islam \u2013 even though Miss Ibrahim testified that she was never a Muslim, and was brought up as a Christian by her Ethiopia-born mother.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The case was drawn to the authorities\u2019 attention in August, when Miss Ibrahim\u2019s father\u2019s family said that she had been born a Muslim and renounced Islam. Fatih Izz Al-Deen, Sudanese parliament speaker, said Miss Ibrahim\u2019s brother had denounced her.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI was never a Muslim,\u201d she told the court. \u201cI was raised a Christian from the start.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I may be wrong, and I\u2019m happy to be corrected, but has the President or Mrs Obama mentioned this case at all? Has the President asked the State Department to be involved?<\/p>\n

I remember when the African American teenager Trayvon Martin was shot by a Hispanic man. The President was front and center to take the cause of the Martin family and sympathize. Why the silence on this horrible case of a pregnant woman being shackled to a wall\u2013imprisoned with her infant son while her wheelchair bound \u00a0American citizen husband remains helpless?<\/p>\n

Our President is usually very helpful when it comes to taking a public stand for victims of injustice, the marginalized, minorities, the helpless, the disabled and the young.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, doesn\u2019t the State Department have a duty to assist an American citizen whose family are in trouble abroad? \u00a0Maybe stuff is happening in diplomatic circles that we don\u2019t know about, but shouldn\u2019t we hear something?<\/p>\n

I\u2019m starting to believe the hyped up Facebook conspiracy theorists who say Obama is secretly sympathetic to the Islamic religion and this is why he is silent when the evidence of Islamic persecution of Christians surfaces. Could this also explain the propaganda which tries to portray Boko Haram as simply a revolutionary group rather than a group of explicitly Islamic terrorism? Little mention is made of the fact that Boko Haram is Muslim and the kidnapped girls of Nigeria are Christian.<\/p>\n
