Matt Archbold comments on the controversy here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\nPope Francis paid a short visit to the Little Sisters of the Poor community in Washington on Wednesday to support them in their court case over the contraception mandate, the Vatican\u2019s spokesman revealed.<\/p>\n
It was a \u201cshort visit that was not in the program,\u201d Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Holy See Press Office, said at an evening press conference during the papal visit to the nation\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a sign, obviously, of support for them\u201d in their court case, he affirmed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
