The Dictator Pope?<\/p>\n

I have to give full marks for a sensational headline. Dan Hitchens\u2019 and editor at London\u2019s Catholic Herald gives the book some airtime here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Apparently the book rehearses all the same grumbles we have heard already: the Pope fires people with no discussion, there is a climate of fear in the Vatican, curial officials are sabotaging all attempts at financial reform, the \u201cSt Gallen Mafia\u201d not only engineered Francis\u2019 election, but Benedict was pressured to resign.<\/p>\n

Well yes and maybe but then again maybe not. The book is authored anonymously and would seem to be a conflation of gossip and tittle tattle.<\/p>\n

C\u2019mon folks. You don\u2019t like the Pope? Look on the bright side. You weren\u2019t supposed to make him into some sort of divine being anyway. He\u2019s the successor of Peter\u2013warts and all.<\/p>\n
