<\/a><\/a>I have had a few fingers wagged at me for being enthusiastic about the candidacy of Sarah \u2018Annie Oakley\u2019 Palin, and I have to admit that after Thursday\u2019s debate\u2013and losing the election\u2013 maybe I\u2019ll have egg on my face and I\u2019ll have to watch her skulk back North with her tail between her legs.<\/p>\n

However, it strikes me that if she is like Annie in the famous musical, Joe Biden is actually pretty much like Frank Butler. Butler, you may remember, is the show\u2019s already established sharp shooter. He\u2019s big, he\u2019s handsome, he\u2019s patronizing\u2013 but he\u2019s also arrogant and dumb. He\u2019s\u00a0always treating the little lady like an upstart, and being upstaged by her because he never quite hits the target.<\/div>\n

Now, not wishing to take sides or tell anyone how to vote since that is really, really not allowed in this country where free speech is valued, I thought it would be a good thing to put down here a link <\/a>which chronicles Joe Biden\u2019s speeches so far in the campaign. How lucky we are to have a candidate who is right up to speed on all the issues, and such a shrewd campaigner.<\/div>\n

He\u2019s not in favor of clean coal\u2013and says so in big coal states like Pennsylvania and Ohio that are going through an employment crunch. Smart move! He not only thinks Sarah Palin pretty but has said his own running mate is the first Afro American who is \u2018good looking and clean.\u2019 Just a little bit sexist and racist? Naah. That\u2019s the sort of comment that will appeal to all those down home folksy folks in the blue collar states. He\u2019s said one of his own sides\u2019 anti-McCain ads was terrible (without actually seeing it first) But he\u2019s just like Hilary. He\u2019s landed in the midst of sniper fire too\u2026whoops, not really<\/a>. He also thinks his running mate should have chosen Hilary Clinton instead of him, and best of all, seriously tells the country that in the Wall Street crash of \u201929 President Roosevelt went on national TV to reassure the country. The only problem is, Herbert Hoover was president then and TV hadn\u2019t been invented yet.<\/div>\n

Never mind. He\u2019s a great guy! He\u2019s a working class hero from Scranton don\u2019t you know! If he\u2019s not up to speed on all the details, that doesn\u2019t matter. After all, he\u2019s only going to be Vice President. Sarah Palin, on the other hand, can\u2019t even sneeze without a hanky and she\u2019s \u2018obviously an incompetent, fundamentalist, gun totin\u2019 ditzy piece of Barbie doll trailer trash\u2026\u00a0<\/div>\n

It will be interesting to see the debate on Thursday. I just wish they\u2019d stand back to back and sing \u201cAnything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you\u2026\u201d<\/div>\n
