People Magazine<\/a> is reporting that Carrie Fisher just died of the heart attack she suffered earlier this week.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know anyone who dislikes Star Wars. In this house we love Star Wars\u2013 my daughter Rose chatters about Star Wars<\/a> the way most girls her age chatter about ponies and Disney princesses. Rose is \u00a0clever, feisty and energetic girl, and it\u2019s difficult\u00a0to find clever, feisty and energetic girl role models that are real characters instead of annoying didactic tropes. Princess Leia was that character. Michael pointed out to her that Han Solo is annoyed with Leia throughout Star Wars: A New Hope<\/em> because Leia is smarter than he is and he knows it; Rose thought that was hysterical.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve come to admire Carrie Fisher for other reasons\u2013 I\u2019m not saying that I know a lot about her, but hearing about her mental health struggles, her frank talk about aging and weight gain as an actress, did inspire my respect.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t even know how to tell Rosie that she\u2019s dead.<\/p>\n

Please join me in praying for her soul and for the consolation of her loved ones.<\/p>\n
