There are, though,\u00a0leaders\u00a0who come into their own when the skies darken.\u00a0There is something about stormy weather that brings out the best in them.<\/p>\n

It can be challenging enough to lead with clear skies. We tend to look for leaders who have a vision; it is easier to see when the sun is out. We appreciate leaders who make us feel more comfortable, like\u00a0everything is under control. Any sign of difficulty can send us scrambling for a safe place to wait out the storm.<\/p>\n

Many of us want to lead in calm, gentle times. We call ourselves leaders, yet we still want nice, safe careers. We hope we will lead from one high point to the next, avoiding stormy weather.<\/p>\n

When we take time to remember who has inspired us to become leaders, we know we will face challenges.<\/p>\n

Deep within ourselves, we recognize storms and difficulties help us become stronger leaders. We look a storm in the eyes and\u00a0feel the charge of its electricity. The glimpses we gain when lightning flashes are the seeds of our leadership vision.<\/p>\n

Our leadership does not intentionally cause storms or create conflict. We appreciate safety and security, but we do not back away when a storm approaches.<\/p>\n

There can be something exhilarating and stimulating about a big storm. The air is often fresher after a storm has passed.<\/p>\n
