It would be so amazing to fly. I watch with envy as birds soar on the currents high above. It must be incredible to be able to move and adjust that quickly, to ride the winds so far above the ground.<\/p>\n

Flying would give me a fresh perspective.<\/p>\n

There are moments when I\u00a0feel the air breeze past my fingertips as I reach out my hands. I am so close. If only I work a little harder, push myself a little more, try just one more time, I know I can do it.<\/p>\n

Over and over again, I realize that I cannot work my way into flying. In many ways, flying for me is the opposite of working.<\/p>\n

I want to soar and glide, to see things from a different perspective. Those are not things we can accomplish with hard work.<\/p>\n

Flying takes letting go of the things that hold me down. One of the reasons birds can fly so well is that they have so little resistance. They do not try to fly; they fly.<\/p>\n

Flying is not about effort, pushing, or trying. For me, flying happens when I let go of the things, like trying, that hold me.<\/p>\n

It sounds ironic. We are closest to flying as we settle down and release our tight grasp on the resistance that holds us down.<\/p>\n

I am learning to settle. Slowly, step by step, I remember to get settled, to ease my grip, to realize that I am already soaring.<\/p>\n

We can settle for more.<\/p>\n
