Music For When It’s All Just A Bit Too Much

Music For When It’s All Just A Bit Too Much June 24, 2015

The Internet can be a demoralizing placeRespighi 1935.jpgSo much sadness; so much anger; so many people worked up about so many things. Sometimes, it all just feels like too much. Sometimes, you just need to escape.

For me, “escape” usually means movies. But sometimes, I just need a quick fix. And then, it’s music that does the trick.

If you’re in the “Today’s Just Too Much” camp with me, here’s a little something to help. Crank up the volume. Put on some good headphones (if you’ve got ’em). And maybe even close your eyes. It’s wonderfully transportive music.

Gorgeous, right? And so peaceful. I feel better already.

That’s Konstantin Scherbakov performing a piano arrangement of the Campanae Parisienses (Bells of Paris) from the second of of Ottorino Respighi’s “Ancient Airs and Dances” suites. The original orchestral version’s wonderful, as well. As is the whole suite. Actually, all three suites are really great. So once y0u’ve listened to Scherbakov’s version enough to calm down, go ahead and listen to (the Antal Doráti-led) version of all three. They’ll help you stay calmed down.
