With somewhere between 100<\/a> and 1,000,000<\/a> tabs open at once. (I\u2019m exaggerating. But only\u00a0slightly<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Yes, it can be a bit mind-numbing. (Or in my case, \u201cmind\u201d-numbing.) So this is just about the best thing that has happened to my Internet-absorbing, photography-loving self in the last month or ever.\u00a0From the folks at Flickr<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Many of us also open up dozens of new browser tabs each day. We were inspired to answer the question \u201cwhat would happen if new tabs weren\u2019t boring, but instead offered a window into a passionate photography community?\u201d<\/p>\n

\"6658109351_acca51f13b_b\"It took seconds\u00a0to install, and I was off! \u2026by which I mean \u201cNow, rather than having\u00a0100<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a01,000,000<\/a>\u00a0work-related tabs open at once, I find that I\u2019m hitting Ctrl-T somewhere\u00a0between\u00a0200<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a02,000,000<\/a>\u00a0times a minute<\/em><\/a> just to see the gorgeous images it brings up.\u201d<\/p>\n

I suppose\u00a0that might be a bit of a drawback if you\u2019re self-employed. Or my employer. Another drawback? My \u201cnew tab\u201d feature usually opens\u00a0straight to Google Search, which is where I start the majority of my browsing. But lately, I\u2019ve realized that I\u2019ve been using the address bar directly for that purpose. And while YMMV<\/a> (especially if you\u2019ve got apps or Frequent Pages or Bookmarks on that tab), I find that it\u2019s worth an extra moment or two to have a gorgeous photo pop up every time I get there.<\/p>\n

Usually, I\u2019m moving at Breakneck eSpeed when a new tab is in order, but this Flickr extension is slowing me down just a bit. And reminding me that there are real-life, non-InterWeb realms out there.<\/p>\n
