Let\u2019s continue to follow the drama unfolding, in regards to former attorney and \u201cfixer\u201d for Donald Trump, Michael Cohen.<\/p>\n
Cohen once said he\u2019d take a bullet for Donald Trump, but since his home and office space was raided by federal authorities in April, with a dozen electronic devices confiscated and millions of documents, it would seem reality has kicked in and Cohen is not feeling the love from his former client.<\/p>\n
In fact, President Trump likely helped tighten the noose on Cohen when he suggested he did know about the payment ($130,000) made in 2016 to former Trump mistress, Stormy Daniels \u2013 after<\/strong> Cohen had insisted that Trump knew nothing about it.<\/p>\n That unfortunate business has Cohen on the hook for bank fraud and violations of campaign finance law, although, he has yet to be formally charged.<\/p>\n At least he and Ms. Daniels have dropped the charade of there being no affair.<\/p>\n Last week, Cohen sat for an interview with ABC\u2019s George Stephanopoulos. He further sparked the notion that he was done being Donald Trump\u2019s doormat when he insisted that his first loyalty was to his family and his country.<\/p>\n Not only that, but he went directly against President Trump by insisting that the work being done by special counsel Robert Mueller was not a \u201cwitch hunt,\u201d and agreed with the U.S. intelligence community that Russia had, in fact, attempted to interfere in the 2016 election.<\/p>\n Also interesting to note, Michael Cohen\u2019s legal team ended a joint defense agreement with Trump\u2019s lawyers.<\/p>\n Cohen recently added former adviser to President Bill Clinton, Lanny Davis, to his legal team, and from the looks of it, the strategy is to come out swinging.<\/a><\/p>\n On Sunday, Trump lawyer, Rudy Giuliani made reference to Michael Cohen.<\/p>\n \u201cMichael Cohen should cooperate with the government. We have no reason to believe he did anything wrong,\u201d Giuliani said on ABC\u2019s \u201cThis Week.\u201d\u00a0\u201cI have no concerns that Michael Cohen is going to do anything but tell the truth.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n It seems so subtle and probably isn\u2019t a signal of anything.<\/p>\n Davis, who currently works as a legal crisis manager, fired back.<\/p>\n \u201cDid\u00a0@rudygiuliani<\/a>\u00a0really say on Sunday shows that\u00a0@michaelcohen212<\/a>should cooperate with prosecutors and tell the truth?\u201d tweeted Davis. \u201cSeriously? Is that Trump and Giuliani definition of\u00a0 \u2018truth\u2019? Trump\/Giuliani next to the word \u2018truth\u2019 = oxymoron. Stay tuned.\u00a0#thetruthmatters<\/a>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Again, we can\u2019t be sure what Michael Cohen\u2019s thought process is, right now, but that came across as rather harsh.<\/p>\n Davis further stated:<\/p>\n \u201cMichael Cohen deserves to tell his side of the story \u2014 subject, of course to the advice of counsel,\u201d Davis, who served as White House special counsel under Clinton, said in a statement to The New York Times.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n In the same week that Davis was hired as part of Cohen\u2019s legal team, over one million of the documents seized by the FBI in the raid on his home, hotel, and office were made available to the prosecutors in the case.<\/p>\n Other news is that Cohen has been telling friends that he doesn\u2019t foresee any sort of pardon, should the time come, from President Trump.<\/p>\n Self-preservation is a powerful incentive, and it looks as if Cohen is prepared to do all it takes to make things easy on himself.<\/p>\n Did @rudygiuliani<\/a> really say on Sunday shows that @michaelcohen212<\/a> should cooperate with prosecutors and tell the truth?
