Please. Keep tweeting.<\/p>\n

This is not a surprise. I\u2019ve been saying for a year that President Trump is pretty much a tweet away from major legal issues.<\/p>\n

The New York Times<\/a> is reporting that special counsel Robert Mueller, along with everything else that has been made available to him, is perusing the president\u2019s Twitter feed to glean items for his obstruction case.<\/p>\n

He has plenty of material to play with. Where to start?<\/p>\n

The Times, citing three people briefed on the matter, reported that Mueller is particularly interested in Trump\u2019s tweets about Attorney General\u00a0Jeff Sessions<\/a>, former FBI Director\u00a0James Comey<\/a>\u00a0and former FBI Deputy Director\u00a0Andrew McCabe<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Now, there\u2019s your cornucopia of material to wade through. So much of it could be damning.<\/p>\n

Anyone who has access to social media has seen or heard about Trump\u2019s Twitter habits. From the very beginning of the Russia probe, it has been a near-daily emotional breakdown, as Trump has lashed out, denied, whined, and pouted for the world to see.<\/p>\n

He has attacked each of the men mentioned at various times since the beginning of Mueller\u2019s work, with varying degrees of intensity (or insanity).<\/p>\n

Of course, President Trump\u2019s attorney, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, has his own hot take on the news.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re going to obstruct justice, you do it quietly and secretly, not in public,\u201d\u00a0argued\u00a0Rudy Giuliani, the\u00a0lawyer representing Trump in the\u00a0Russia probe, in a statement to the paper.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I don\u2019t think he really put any thought into that statement.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re talking about Donald Trump. He will shoot himself in the foot, over and over again. I doubt very seriously that he has taken a moment to stop and consider how his Twitter attacks might look to certain interested parties, or how they might be construed.<\/p>\n

He certainly doesn\u2019t listen to his advisers.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m seriously expecting him to confess to being involved in the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa, at some point.<\/p>\n

The belief, for now, is that Mueller may not be looking for that one, smoking gun type of confession (although he certainly might find something out there). Rather, he could be mapping the behavior of Trump, monitoring Trump\u2019s various responses to the day\u2019s newsfeed.<\/p>\n

Is there a pattern of behavior to watch?<\/p>\n

So what sort of insanity might Robert Mueller be perusing, as we speak?<\/p>\n

Trump has tweeted and said in interviews that he\u00a0would\u00a0not have nominated Sessions<\/a>\u00a0as attorney general if he knew Sessions would recuse himself from the Russia investigation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That one will surely catch Mueller\u2019s attention. No, it\u2019s not something that could sink Trump, but, again, very odd, given his current status.<\/p>\n

Then there were the comments about former FBI Director James Comey. I\u2019d be hard pressed to determine who caught it the worst, Comey or Jeff Sessions.<\/p>\n

During an interview with NBC News\u2019 Lester Holt, President Trump said of the then-recent firing of Comey that it was because of the \u201cRussia thing.\u201d It was only after that he began firing off multiple reasons.<\/p>\n

In May of this year, however,\u00a0Trump tweeted<\/a>\u00a0that he \u201cnever fired James Comey because of Russia!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Make up your mind.<\/p>\n

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, fired in March for a failure to come clean during an interview with the inspector general, has been a frequent target of Trump\u2019s Twitter hand, as well.<\/p>\n

The Times\u2019s report comes three days after\u00a0Giuliani\u00a0told Bloomberg News<\/a> that he suggested to Mueller that Trump would sit for an interview only if\u00a0Mueller agreed to rule out questions about obstruction of justice\u00a0and focus on\u00a0the matter of whether Trump\u2019s campaign colluded with Russia during the presidential race, which Trump has vehemently denied.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And there\u2019s no way they should be able to call the shots, as far as what is important in this investigation and what is not. The stakes are too high.<\/p>\n
