Have you been keeping up with the revolution going on in Venezuela?<\/p>\n

The people have had it. No more starvation. No more eating pets and zoo animals, or sending children out to scrounge together a bite from garbage cans.<\/p>\n

MADURO MUST GO!<\/a><\/p>\n

The first whispers of revolt came with videos from military members, speaking of a coup. That was quickly squelched, but it wasn\u2019t the end, and for those who have been keeping up, you\u2019ve seen thousands of Venezuelans flooding the streets, demanding for a change.<\/p>\n

Make no mistake. It is a sensitive issue, but it is a long time coming.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve covered the dire situation in Venezuela several times, in various forums. Venezuela, with the potential to be the most prosperous nation in Latin America is a shell, under the leadership of Nicol\u00e1s Maduro.<\/p>\n

In a stark example of what socialism does to a society, images of empty store shelves, news of lack in every area of need, including medicine, was the norm.<\/p>\n

The latest election, marred by accusations of ballot rigging and other chicanery was the final straw.<\/p>\n

Not that any of that is new. In the last election, Maduro had opponents either kicked off the ballot or arrested.<\/p>\n

The European Union and other international bodies have called for a new election, but Maduro has been defiant.<\/p>\n

The country\u2019s parliamentary chief, Juan Guaid\u00f3, has used an article of Venezuela\u2019s constitution to declare himself the interim president, and he has support from the United States, along with Argentina, Brazil, Canada, and others, who now recognize him as Venezuela\u2019s president.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s such that they\u2019ve rejected Maduro\u2019s demand to remove all United States diplomats from the nation.<\/p>\n

Maduro\u2019s regime has support from nations such as Russia and Turkey, who have warned the United States against seeking to implement regime change in the region.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a complicated situation, however, with Venezuela\u2019s Supreme Court also supporting his presidency.<\/p>\n

Still, unbowed (and rightly so), the State Department announced on Tuesday that Guaid\u00f3 will be given the right to take control of Venezuelan assets, currently being held in U.S. banks.<\/p>\n

The New York Times reports that Secretary of State\u00a0Mike Pompeo<\/a>\u00a0initially made the\u00a0decision to give Guaid\u00f3 accesson Friday,\u00a0but the information was not released until Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis certification will help Venezuela\u2019s legitimate government safeguard those assets for the benefit of the Venezuelan people,\u201d Robert Palladino, a State Department spokesman, told the Times.<\/p>\n

According to the Times, the order specifically referred to Venezuelan holdings in the\u00a0Federal Reserve Bank of New York, though it applied to any of the country\u2019s financial interests in the states.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here in the U.S. I\u2019ve seen some \u2013 mainly on the left \u2013 rejecting the notion of the U.S. showing any interest in what is going on in Venezuela, or choosing a side in their current presidential quagmire.<\/p>\n

These are the same people that decry President Trump\u2019s callous disregard for immigrants or nation\u2019s he might consider to be \u201csh*thole\u201d countries. Somehow, they don\u2019t have equal regard for the starving, desperate citizens of Venezuela.<\/p>\n

Could it be because the left\u2019s magic unicorn is socialism, the very thing that has left Venezuela in ruin, victimizing the citizens?<\/p>\n

Yes. I can see why they would want to keep that little nugget off of everyone\u2019s radar.<\/p>\n
