President Donald Trump is a small, petty, obnoxious man.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s a man who has precious few accomplishments in his own life.<\/p>\n

We can\u2019t count his businesses. He\u2019s been bankrupt far too many times, he lives on credit, and if not for his father\u2019s money, he\u2019d be a Walmart greeter, today.<\/p>\n

We certainly can\u2019t include his altruism, or his service to his nation. He\u2019s the guy who had his wealthy father arrange for 4 or 5 deferments from the military, due to a sore foot.<\/p>\n

A sore foot, I must add, that mysteriously cleared up, never to be a problem again, even as Trump grew older and heavier.<\/p>\n

He would later joke to \u201cshock jock\u201d Howard Stern that his personal Vietnam was avoiding sexually transmitted diseases.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, young men of lesser means, but far greater spirit and character fought the battle, stood tall, became heroes, or even laid down their lives in a faraway land, all because of duty.<\/p>\n

One of those young men was John McCain.<\/p>\n

As I\u2019ve often mentioned, I had a lot of problems with McCain\u2019s record as a senator. He was a RiNO\u2019s RiNO, at least by the standards of what the Republican party used to claim they stood for.<\/p>\n

These days, with their acceptance of Donald Trump\u2019s big government overreach, trade wars, acquiescence to dictators, and assorted other unsavory moves, we can\u2019t really see how the reality of the Republican party matches up to the fantasy days of the past.<\/p>\n

With that said, John McCain, per his character, still stood head and shoulders above a man like Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important to make that clear from the start, because we need to keep it in mind while pointing out that for the past two days, the president of the United States has been on a feverish vendetta against a dead man.<\/p>\n

John McCain has been gone for seven months, but that hasn\u2019t stopped Trump from obsession over him on his Twitter feed.<\/p>\n

Former independent counsel Ken Starr commented on a recently released Fox News report that it was an associate of John McCain\u2019s who shared the now-infamous Russia dossier compiled by former British intelligence agent, Christopher Steele, with the FBI and some media outlets.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Starr called the incident a \u201cvery dark stain\u201d against McCain.<\/p>\n

Trump, who gets all of his views directly from Fox News, couldn\u2019t resist taking a jab at the deceased.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cHe had far worse \u2018stains\u2019 than this, including thumbs down on repeal and replace after years of campaigning to repeal and replace!\u201d the\u00a0president tweeted<\/a>, referring to the Arizona lawmaker\u2019s vote against the GOP Senate majority during the Republican attempt to repeal ObamaCare in 2017.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

John McCain may have voted against the paring down of Obamacare, in what was being called a \u201cskinny bill,\u201d but the reality is that the president failed to do his due diligence. He was so busy attacking the GOP at that time, that he did nothing to built an alliance and bring together the party in both Houses, so that a repeal and replace could happen.<\/p>\n

In truth, his entire attack on McCain is because he needs a convenient scapegoat.<\/p>\n

John McCain is gone. He\u2019s not likely to strike back or try to defend himself.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the president was still obsessing.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it was indeed (just proven in court papers) \u2018last in his class\u2019 (Annapolis) John McCain that sent the Fake Dossier to the FBI and Media hoping to have it printed BEFORE the Election,\u201d Trump tweeted. \u201cHe & the Dems, working together, failed (as usual). Even the Fake News refused this garbage!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He\u2019s ragging on McCain\u2019s class records, and he has paid people to assure his own records from his school days are never released. In fact, one of Trump\u2019s former teachers called him the dumbest student he\u2019s ever taught.<\/p>\n

Of course, he used more colorful terms, but I\u2019m trying to be nice.<\/p>\n

This is a real problem with Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

All the money, fame, mistresses, and highly compensated, plastic trophy wives in the world can\u2019t buy character.<\/p>\n

Character comes from a strong foundation and proper upbringing, experiencing life as it is, getting out in the world, and positive role models.<\/p>\n

Donald Trump had none of those things. He had neither a good upbringing, or any moments in his life where he was not pampered and indulged.<\/p>\n

He has not been held accountable for a life of corruption and hubris, so when he finds himself in a position where all his misdeeds are being held under a microscope, he panics. His defaults to petulance and ire.<\/p>\n

And he needs someone to blame, so why not the guy who can\u2019t hit back?<\/p>\n

Donald Trump is not a tough guy. He\u2019s the slimiest kind of wimp.<\/p>\n

McCain\u2019s daughter, Meghan McCain, took to Twitter to defend her father\u2019s memory.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one will ever love you the way they loved my father\u2026. I wish I had been given more Saturday\u2019s with him. Maybe spend yours with your family instead of on twitter obsessing over mine?\u201d\u00a0she tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy father lives rent free in your head,\u201d she added on Sunday\u00a0in a tweet that was later deleted.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I don\u2019t know why she deleted it. She was right.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s beyond distasteful that the president would lash out at McCain like this, long after the man has passed, especially when he still has family who could be stung by the insensitivity of his words.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not a good look. It\u2019s not the act of a leader.<\/p>\n

It is to be expected, however. This is Donald Trump. He is not a good person.<\/p>\n
