The AP is reporting thusly<\/a>:<\/p>\n

On the eve of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s crucial visit to Washington, his defense minister suggested Saturday the Israeli leader might be ready to endorse a Palestinian state when he meets President Barack Obama.<\/em><\/p>\n

That would be a significant shift for Netanyahu, who has made clear in the past that he does not think the Palestinians are ready to rule themselves. But that position has put him at odds with long-standing U.S. policy that supports Palestinian statehood as the cornerstone of Mideast peace efforts. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You got that? Netanyahu may be willing to support a 2-state solution, and it\u2019s because he\u2019ll soon be meeting with President Barack Obama. The Pope\u2019s recent meeting<\/a> with Netanyahu, and the papal support for a Palestinian State<\/a>? Not even mentioned.<\/p>\n

Such gigantic news could not come, of course, \u201con the heels of a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI.\u201d<\/p>\n

It can only come \u201con the eve of [a] crucial visit to Washington.\u201d
\n
\nYeah, that\u2019s the ticket.<\/strong> Because only Obama, who did very little before taking on the Oval Office, has the wisdom and the gravitas to bring Netanyahu to such a position. You can\u2019t expect the 83 year-old professor who lived through Nazism and Statism<\/a> and understands that the greatest evils of the 20th century began with people disrespecting the personhood of the guy standing next to them, to have had any impact on Israel\u2019s thinking.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t expect an old intellectual who has been talking about the battle between truth and relativism from his teenage years in a POW camp<\/a>, through his elevation to the papacy<\/a>, to have contributed anything of value to the decades-long acrimonies of the Middle Eastern Nations<\/a> can you?<\/p>\n

Of course not. If there is anything good that happens in the world, right now, it is an Obamian-good at its root.<\/p>\n

That does seem to be the way things are trending, anyway.<\/p>\n

Even committed secularists need their godlings<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wall Street Journal:<\/strong> Yechiel Eckstein says the world desperately needs Benedict\u2019s model of reconciliation<\/a>.<\/p>\n
