\u2026a person can move to this country and complain that the British flag is oppressive, and the Brits don\u2019t have the national spine to laugh the complaint away. Britain has given in to the \u201cbesetting temptation of all politics to concern itself with the immediate present at the expense of the future.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Now the future is here. Islamism is filling the yawning vacuum created by multiculturalism. England is producing homegrown suicide bombers who are supremely confident in a very non-British future for Britain. For years, the police here have looked the other way as citizens have slaughtered their wives and daughters in \u201chonor killings.\u201d To clamp down would be \u201cinsensitive\u201d to cultural differences. They\u2019ve looked the other way, as jihadi ideologues have turned London into the Comintern of Muslim extremism. In other words, they opened their minds so wide, their brains fell out. And now the Thames, like the Tiber, is foaming with much blood.<\/p>\n

Just really good \u2013 you\u2019ll want to read it all<\/a>. And when you have finished, you will find this Michael Ledeen piece to be an excellent chaser; wherein he wonders how England could be so surprised to find her terrorists homegrown<\/a>:<\/p>\n

George Orwell got it just right when, in the winter of 1940, he bitterly observed \u201chighly civilized human beings are flying overhead, trying to kill me.\u201d He knew what his countrymen, and most of the intellectual elite of the West, have relegated to a quiet intellectual closet: that Hitler and Mussolini had created monstrous mass movements in two of the most civilized, and most cultured countries in Europe. The Duce and the Fuhrer were wildly popular in the countries of Dante and Vivaldi, Beethoven and Goethe; they were not the products of some alien culture. They sprang from the most profound beliefs and passions of the highest cultures in the world (and those passions and beliefs spread to France and England, as well as to central and eastern Europe), which is why there was hardly any effective popular resistance in fascist Europe. The great evil was only abandoned by the Europeans when it was defeated on the battlefield.<\/em><\/p>\n
