There is so much going on \u2013 so much to read \u2013 that sometimes a \u201cyou may have missed this\u201d linkfest is just what is called for:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jewishworldreview.com\/cols\/will1.asp\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">George Will takes no prisoners<\/a> just read it.  Very well done.  This piece by <a href=\"http:\/\/pittsburghlive.com\/x\/tribune-review\/trib\/mostread\/s_372587.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Robert Tracinski<\/a> seems to go with it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Secondly,<\/strong> if you have not had a chance to read any of neo-neocon\u2019s installments in her <a href=\"http:\/\/neo-neocon.blogspot.com\/2005\/09\/mind-is-difficult-thing-to-change-part.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The mind is a difficult thing to change<\/a> series, start with this one and then catch up with her earlier pieces as time permits.  It is very good reading.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Greek Orthodox Priest <\/strong>says that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.com.au\/story\/0,10117,16583939-38200,00.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">God sent the terror<\/a> on 9\/11.  I\u2019m not sure how he can square that with his following statement that \u201cno sane person can condone acts of terror.\u201d I\u2019m sure there is some theological point in there, somewhere \u2013 if God \u201csent\u201d the terror, rather than simply allowing such evil to happen, then either I or the priest need to go on retreat!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Daily Howler<\/strong> has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailyhowler.com\/dh091205.shtml\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">neat take-down of Mary Landrieu\u2019s churning idiocy<\/a> on FOX, but they also have a nice, snarky analysis of the buddy-buddy-chum-buddy chatter of the talking heads, who sometimes seem to be agreeing on memes and narratives while they are live and on the air.  Scroll down for it.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br>\nSpeaking of memes, <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/shrinkwrapped.blogs.com\/blog\/2005\/09\/critical_mass.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Dr. Shrinkwrap<\/a> is offering some analysis of his own re Katrina and the press, and notes how difficult it is to undo a meme once the press has successfully planted it.  Yes\u2026it\u2019s very troubling that the press now realizes it can say pretty much any damn thing they want, and if they say it enough \u2013 it becomes \u201cfact,\u201d even if they must quietly withdraw the meme later.  Very troubling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our troops<\/strong> have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southbendtribune.com\/stories\/thisday\/nation.20050912-sbt-MICH-A8-Iraqi__U_S__troops_f.sto\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">found a bomb factory<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Muslims in England<\/strong> are telling Tony Blair that a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/main.jhtml?xml=\/news\/2005\/09\/12\/nholo12.xml&amp;sSheet=\/news\/2005\/09\/12\/ixhome.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Holocaust Memorial Day Must Be Scrapped<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Downing Street is facing calls from its advisers to abolish Jewish Holocaust Memorial Day, established by Tony Blair four years ago, because it is offensive to Muslims\u2026Members of the committees are asking that Holocaust Day be replaced with Genocide Day to recognise the murders of members of their own faith in Palestine, Chechnya and Bosnia.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Michelle Malkin is getting annoyed<\/strong> (and rightly) at all of this <a href=\"http:\/\/michellemalkin.com\/archives\/003529.htm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">my people, these are <em>my<\/em> people, these are <em>your<\/em> people<\/a> talk coming in the wake of Katrina.  She is suggesting that in the 21st century in the Year of our Lord 2005, maybe it is high time for people to understand that <em>everybody is all our people<\/em>.  But then, what would the race-hustlers have left to do?  Or, it must be asked, the bigots?<\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"http:\/\/bamapachyderm.com\/archives\/2005\/09\/12\/from-our-friends-in-poland\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Pals in Poland<\/a> have a nice 9\/11 memorial, in just this little town in Poland.  Very nice, thanks to Beth for posting it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Hawkins<\/strong> has the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightwingnews.com\/archives\/week_2005_09_11.PHP#004409\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">20 most obnoxious statements uttered over Katrina<\/a>.  I don\u2019t know how he limited himself to 20.  He musta missed Gordon Adams from George Washington University, who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theneweditor.com\/index.php?\/archives\/843-Tell-Us-What-You-Really-...-er,-Think.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">penned this drop of poison<\/a>:      <em>We have a president who is apparently ill-informed, lackadaisical and narrow-minded, surrounded by oil baron cronies, religious fundamentalist crazies and right-wing extremists and ideologues. He has appointed officials who give incompetence new meaning, who replace the positive role of government with expensive baloney\u2026 It is time to hold them accountable \u2013 this ugly, troglodyte crowd of Capital Beltway insiders, rich lawyers, ideologues, incompetents and their strap-hangers should be tarred, feathered and ridden gracefully and mindfully out of Washington and returned to their caves, clubs in hand.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Heh.  Sounds to me he like he took his November 4, 2004 rant out and changed the date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oh, and while it may not have made Hawkins\u2019 list<\/strong>, here is a tape of <a href=\"http:\/\/thepoliticalteen.net\/2005\/09\/12\/blancocnndaybreak\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Governor Blanco<\/a> basically admitting she screwed up.  And Ben Stein is writing that the biggest story post-Katrina is that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spectator.org\/dsp_article.asp?art_id=8726\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the mainstream media went into a riot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. Atos is wondering if a \u201cChiles Gambit\u201d was being played<\/strong> in New Orleans.  He\u2019s wondering about about <a href=\"http:\/\/mysandmen.blogspot.com\/2005\/09\/hurricane-politics-chiles-gambit.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Katrina and FEMA<\/a> and how some understand that \u201ca disaster is a political event.\u201d He covers Major Garrett, Lawton Chiles, Gov. Blanco and more.  It\u2019s a good and important read.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile <a href=\"http:\/\/confederateyankee.mu.nu\/archives\/118612.php\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Confederate Yankee fisks a professor<\/a> who didn\u2019t like seeing in print the idea that local and state governments bear first responsibilities for their towns and cities.  He lays her out quite nicely.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jonathan David Carson<\/strong> at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanthinker.com\/articles.php?article_id=4813\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">American Thinker<\/a> is writing about American Original Sin.  Very good.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Tierney is fast becoming my favorite columnist<\/strong> at the NY Times\u2026not like he has a lot of competition, there, but anyway, go read him today.  He has a suggestion for the judicial committee: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/09\/13\/opinion\/13tierney.html?ex=1284264000&amp;en=5fc06b3bc7bb5b84&amp;ei=5090&amp;partner=rssuserland&amp;emc=rss\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">ask John Roberts hard questions!<\/a>  Such as these:<em><br>\nSuppose you\u2019d been in Solomon\u2019s place when he proposed cutting the baby in two. It is quite a testament to the hardiness of the people adn the effectiveness of the local leadership.  Instead of pointing fingers and lingering on our tv screens, the folks in Slidel are simply pulling it together.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gateway Pundit is the site to visit today <\/strong>for <a href=\"http:\/\/gatewaypundit.blogspot.com\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">one great piece after another<\/a>.  He\u2019s covering the <a href=\"http:\/\/gatewaypundit.blogspot.com\/2005\/09\/gaza-ga-ga.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">chaos in Gaza<\/a>, and a new <a href=\"http:\/\/gatewaypundit.blogspot.com\/2005\/09\/70-year-old-convicted-on-terrorism.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">terrorist conviction<\/a> but he also has Cindy Sheehan, Geraldo, Utah, Ted Kennedy\u2019s whackiness and more.  Go.  You\u2019ll like.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaking of Gaza<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerlsimon.com\/mt-archives\/2005\/09\/the_sadness_of.php\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Roger Simon<\/a> has some thoughts and this Muslim gent wonders <a href=\"http:\/\/www.altmuslim.com\/perm.php?id=1546_0_25_0_M\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">what if Jews were burning down Mosques?<\/a>  A good question and I\u2019m glad he asks it.  Don\u2019t miss the part where the NY Times blames Israel for the torching.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Final thought<\/strong> \u2013 I\u2019m wondering if some of the people in the press who have written so much garbage over the last two weeks will look back on their writing, someday, and be embarrassed.  Chances are \u2013 for many reasons \u2013 they will not.
