The White House pushed these points:<\/p>\n
\n \u2013 Our budget explicitly calls for permanently extending the Bush tax cuts for households making less than $250,000. \u2013 Our budget explicitly calls for allowing the top rate on dividends to increase to 20% for households making over $250,000. \u2013 Our budget accounts for the cost of continuing the AMT \u201cPatch\u201d. The last administration\u2019s budgets ignored these costs, but we explicitly account for them. \u2013 Our budget extends expiring tax provisions through 2011.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The official said the Reuters White House team \u201cworked to quickly remedy the situation and helped get the story completely withdrawn\u201d last night.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
How about that?<\/strong> They quickly \u201cremedied\u201d the situation, and corrected the record, and they didn\u2019t even mock the president and his team for complaining about erroneous stories, as they did to the last administration.<\/p>\n
But what struck me was this line:<\/p>\n

What? People who were not rich got Tax Cuts under Bush?<\/strong> I thought the Bush Tax Cuts were evil, and immoral, and they were only for the \u201ctop 1%\u201d of earners in the country \u2013 his gift to his rich pals?<\/p>\n
You mean there were Bush Tax Cuts that were not evil or immoral and that deserve to be extended? That they were, in fact, so respectable that the Obama administration even acknowledges them as \u201cBush\u201d tax cuts and retains them?<\/p>\n
This is the same White House that is also retaining most of Bush\u2019s policies on terrorism and stuff, right?<\/p>\n
The same predecessor Obama keeps blaming for everything?<\/p>\n
The one who left Obama with so much \u201cred ink\u201d<\/a> due to profligate spending<\/a>, that Obama argues he must spend trillions more<\/a> in order to save us . . . even though the spending is not, um\u2026well, where the hell is<\/em> all this \u201cjob-creating\u201d money they\u2019re supposedly pumping into the economy<\/a>, anyway?<\/p>\n
Oh, forget it. Obama is \u201cstumping for jobs\u201d by \u201cpushing health care\u201d<\/a>. And judging by these headlines<\/a>, I won\u2019t be able to get a straight answer to any question.<\/p>\n
Nothing means anything, anymore.<\/strong> Words truly are \u201cjust words,\u201d now, and in this Looking-Glass Administration, words mean exactly what Obama says they mean at any given moment. They will mean something else, in five minutes.<\/p>\n
`I don\u2019t know what you mean by \u201cglory\u201d,\u2019 Alice said.<\/p>\n
Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. `Of course you don\u2019t \u2014 till I tell you. I meant \u201cthere\u2019s a nice knock-down argument for you!\u201d\u2018<\/p>\n
`But \u201cglory\u201d doesn\u2019t mean \u201ca nice knock-down argument\u201d,\u2019 Alice objected.<\/p>\n
`When I use a word,\u2019 Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean \u2014 neither more nor less.\u2019<\/p>\n
`The question is,\u2019 said Alice, `whether you can make words mean so many different things.\u2019<\/p>\n

The president says he wants to create jobs, and to do that, he is surrounding himself with people who have never created them<\/a>. But his words mean something.<\/p>\n
