It\u2019s been happening for a while<\/a>, but increasingly we\u2019re seeing religious communities, particularly those which keep Jesus within the Eucharist as their focus, increase in numbers, even as the more progressive orders are fading.<\/p>\n

At St. Michael\u2019s Abbey<\/a> in Orange County, California (OC, for pete\u2019s sake!) The Norbertine Fathers are looking for more space<\/a> because they are turning young men away from their prayerful place<\/a> for lack of room. (The picture of the rose, btw, is from their photo gallery).<\/p>\n

I thought as we begin Lent it might be good to take a look at communities which are flourishing in what JPII called this \u201cSpringtime\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

A friend in touch with some of the nuns at Our Lady of the Incredible Candy \u2013 oops \u2013 Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey<\/a> reports that they are raising money to expand for they are out of room!<\/p>\n

The Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration have no more rooms<\/a> and are recommending young women to other houses.<\/p>\n

The Benedictines at St. Walburga\u2019s Abbey<\/a> have added three more postulants to the novitiate.<\/p>\n

The Benedictines of Perpetual Adoration<\/a> have a novice and another coming!<\/p>\n

The Nashville Dominicans report they have more Sisters<\/a> than ever in their 142-year history \u2013 median age is 36.<\/p>\n

Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist haven\u2019t finished building their new motherhouse yet<\/a> and are already almost out of room. They\u2019re young\u2019uns too.<\/p>\n

Carmelites of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Los Angeles<\/a>, a large and thriving community.<\/p>\n

Sr. Greta is a few months in the cloister<\/a> but not expecting to be alone in the novitiate for long.<\/p>\n
