Folks are all abuzz<\/a> about Hillary\u2019s testy declaration that she can make change and they\u2019re linking to this video<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve got all sorts of comments in my email ranging from \u201cIf you need change for a hundred, Hillary can make it,\u201d to \u201cIf George H.W. Bush reminded every woman of her first husband, Hillary is going to remind every man of his first wife.\u201d Kathryn Jean Lopez got one like that too<\/a>.

\nWell\u2026I dunno.<\/strong> I watched the video and didn\u2019t think she came off too shrewish. A little incoherent, desperate sounding and clearly angry \u2013 she must so ticked off that she is finding herself in this position<\/a> when she was pretty sure she was gliding to a coronation \u2013 and I think I read somewhere a while back that her claims about insuring National Guardsmen are a stretch, but stretching is what Clinton\u2019s do, so no one will care. Perhaps it played worse in the context of the whole debate, but to me this video does not seem like the \u201cmoment of implosion\u201d which many are waiting for. I think she\u2019s going to get a lot angrier before that happens.<\/p>\n

Ann Althouse says<\/strong> she thought Hillary sounded hesitant and yelly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Buster<\/strong> \u2013 not a Hillary lover \u2013 is home from school I played the video for him and he agreed with me, pretty much. \u201cShe doesn\u2019t sound shrewish; she\u2019s sounds like she\u2019s a little pissed off and making her case. Not really convincing, but not offensive, either.\u201d We both think this video<\/a> is more dramatic. And it re-inforces what I\u2019ve been saying for a while \u2013 that we\u2019ve been seeing the same damn faces for too long<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lorie Byrd takes<\/strong> strong issue<\/a> with Obama\u2019s assertion that yes, the surge in Iraq is working, but only because the Iraqis see the Democrats are going to \u201cend the occupation.\u201d My feeling: if the White House disagrees, they\u2019d better address it, otherwise, that\u2019s the narrative the left and the press will run with<\/a>. \nMy emailers<\/strong> are also telling me that they thought Fred Thompson won on issues \u2013 Freeman Hunt agrees<\/a> \u2013 but still needs to show some passion besides the Bid Daddy<\/a> tone. I rather like that tone, myself.<\/p>\n

Newsweek is coming out<\/strong> with a valentine to Obama<\/a>. It\u2019s certainly a flattering portrait, and every candidate should probably get one of those at some point \u2013 in fact, here is one on Thompson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As I said yesterday, there is lots of time to get to learn about Obama\u2019s votes and ideas \u2013 I do recall him saying he\u2019d negotiate<\/em> with Iran, so there certainly are questions. My concern is \u2013 now that the press has a new love \u2013 (and they are completely besotted with Obama, who has rescued them from their abusive marriage<\/a> to the Clintons) will the press allow us to see Obama fully<\/em>, or will they block our views<\/a> as they did with John Kerry? It\u2019s a serious question.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m totally willing to look closely at Obama \u2013 doubt I\u2019ll like his social or economic stands, and I disagree with him fundamentally on our action in Iraq, but I\u2019ll look. My fear is that the press will only show us the man\u2019s sweet cheeks and none of the warts, because they\u2019re clearly IN LOVE. I\u2019m glad they seem to be waking up from their Clinton slumber, but we the people need the press to show us full portraits of the candidates<\/em>, with both the good and the bad; otherwise all the media are doing is shilling. Whores do that.<\/p>\n
