Will she or won\u2019t she concede tonight<\/strong> \u2013 that\u2019s the big question burning up<\/a> the blogs: what will Hillary do in the face of Obama\u2019s declaration of victory<\/a>?<\/p>\n

Months ago I made a suggestion to the Hillary camp. I\u2019m not so stupid or conceited as to think they are taking my<\/em> advice, but I and betting that they\u2019re running along the same thought-lines. Back then I wrote<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Hillary\u2019s smartest move would be to \u201csuspend\u201d the campaign, which is not the same as ending it, allow herself some time to rest, save whatever money she can, and let her attack dogs render Obama as impotent and unelectable as possible\u2026then \u201cre-animate\u201d her campaign before the convention, when the Dems are having Obama-remorse. It can\u2019t hurt her. Might help her become the party \u201csavior\u201d she really wants to be.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n


\nBe on the lookout for Savior Hillary.<\/strong> Once the focus on the \u201908 campaign becomes purely Obama\/McCain, it will be a little more difficult for the press to cover up<\/a> his many weaknesses<\/a>, save his live pressers for editing, etc. Many people suspect that the mythical \u201cMichelle\/Whitey\u201d<\/a> video is out there and being held by the Clinton campaign for strategic timing. IF that is true, Hillary needs to look like she\u2019s reconciled<\/a> for the good of the party<\/a> (although I doubt she will go this far<\/a>). She\u2019ll make sure her fingerprints are nowhere near the video \u2013 IF it exists \u2013 blaming it on the GOP<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So, tonight. Obama declares victory and Hillary \u2013 hopefully wearing her yellow suit \u2013 will smile like the canary ready to swallow the cat.<\/p>\n

UPDATED I:<\/strong> Commenting over at Just One Minute<\/a>, Larwyn notes that the AP has been proclaiming Obama has having clinched the nomination, though he is still 30 delegates away. Larwyn wonders if the AP is pulling a Dan-Rather-calling-Florida-early in 2000, which discouraged thousands of Bush voters in the panhandle from going to the polls. Has the press, both by declaring this morning that Hillary was conceding, and by this afternoon \u2013 while people are still voting \u2013 continuously calling it for Obama, been trying to suppress Hillary voters?
