Most pathetic email in a long time<\/strong> came from someone named Jessup, who was \u2013 I think \u2013 trying to antagonize me, by noting that I was posting on religion and \u201cfluff\u201d (I guess that would be the Prom Queen With Down Syndrome<\/a> story) because I knew \u201cmy guy\u201d was beat and the election was over, and therefore I was falling back on religion, my \u201ccrutch\u201d because that\u2019s what stupid people like me need, a crutch.<\/p>\n

That was the gist of it, anyway.<\/p>\n

Except that McCain is not especially \u201cmy guy\u201d and I\u2019ve come to the conclusion that what I really<\/em> want this election is to see the mainstream media defeated, more than anything else, so I\u2019m not looking at anything as a done; they may fully defeat themselves, yet. Things turn on dimes, don\u2019tcha know.<\/p>\n

More importantly, for whatever reason \u2013 and I think it has to do with the prayer and fasting<\/a>, which I am doing not for a \u201cwin\u201d but for the \u201cgood\u201d of my country \u2013 I feel, deep down, incredibly good and unusually peaceful<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Being stupid, I know almost nothing, but I do know that the fasting is a good<\/em> thing, and it is having a positive effect in my own life, in my spirit. If that is all that comes from it, I will feel completely blessed.<\/p>\n

You guys need to lighten up.<\/strong> As I\u2019ve noted before, even when you perceive yourself as \u201cwinning,\u201d you\u2019re always so damned miserable. I noticed that in 2006. The left won and seemed just as unhappy and discontented as they\u2019d been for the previous 6 years. You\u2019ve had control of congress for two years (and that\u2019s been fun for all of us<\/a>, btw) but you\u2019re still\u2026miserable<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Right now, you\u2019re just downright curmudgeonly<\/strong>. When I\u2019m writing about politics, I\u2019m stupid<\/em>. When I\u2019m not writing on politics, I\u2019m stupid<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Well, okay, you got me, sheriff, I\u2019m not a rocket scientist. I already knew that, and have no illusions about my meager gifts. But I must say I never waste my time reading anyone I think of as stupid<\/em>, so I don\u2019t know why you\u2019re reading me.<\/p>\n

And, stupid as I am, at least I have no burning need to write to someone else \u2013 anyone else \u2013 on the internet to tell them that I think they\u2019re stupid, and I\u2019m smart. So, I guess that\u2019s something.<\/p>\n

Today, if I had to choose between being me,<\/strong> with my \u201closing guy\u201d and my \u201ccrutch,\u201d and being you, with your 8th grade textbooks already<\/em> spinning 15 pages (!) on The Lord Obama<\/a>, and his self-reverencing blue shields and gold-plated coins<\/a> and his mothership off Easter Island<\/a> (the message was garbled; the spacemen were saying \u201cObama\u201d not \u201cAlabama!\u201d), I\u2019d choose being me. I bet I feel better than you do, right now.<\/p>\n
