Let me say right off the bat, I have never thought, as apparently many still do<\/a>, that Barack Obama was a Muslim. Obama said<\/em> he was a Christian, and \u2013 although it is difficult to believe he sat in Jeremiah Wright\u2019s church for 20 years and never heard him utter racist or anti-American sentiments \u2013 I tend to take people at their word, until their behavior informs me otherwise.<\/p>\n Such is the case, here. President Obama\u2019s own behavior has me wondering.<\/p>\n I don\u2019t like this video. Spin it any way you like, Obama\u2019s knee is bending, and the head is going very low, almost low enough to kiss a ring, but then Obama\u2019s smooth movements become awkward and stilted, reflecting interrupted momentum \u2013 like a batter checking his swing. This looks very much like a man catching himself in mid-bow<\/a> and suddenly remembering that he should not.<\/p>\n I recall the press making a big stink when President Bush held hands with a Saudi Prince<\/a>; we were told by all the pundits that it was a \u201cvery revealing\u201d gesture, one that \u201cdemonstrated\u201d Bush\u2019s fealty to the oil-producers.<\/p>\n I\u2019m quite certain, however, that we\u2019re going to hear Obama\u2019s action \u2013 which certainly looks like a checked bow, to me \u2013 explained away, with a sniff of disdain. \u201cActually the president looking for something on the rug,\u201d or \u201canticipating a step\u201d (which would make no sense, given Abudullah\u2019s height). Perhaps we\u2019ll be told that Obama \u201chas a head cold\u201d and \u201cwas stifling a sneeze\u201d or \u201cwas suppressing a cough,\u201d or \u201cis very, very tired, and momentarily betrayed his exhaustion; saving the world is very tiring.\u201d<\/p>\n I think it was a checked bow.<\/p>\n What does it mean? Nothing good, I don\u2019t think.<\/strong> Is Obama a Muslim? That is less important to me than whether or not he is lying<\/em> about it.<\/p>\n The American President does not bow to a King; they are supposed to be equals. I am really reluctant to join the \u201cObama is a Muslim\u201d club, but he did not help himself by betraying his inclination, here, to bow. Nor, did he dampen down those flames when he banned the press<\/a> from covering his White House reception for a federation of African-American community newspapers<\/a>, (including, it seems, newspapers for and by the Nation of Islam) which was giving the president an award. The swooning<\/a> lapdog press<\/a> \u2013 even if it whines now and then<\/a>, will never ask the president about that closed meeting. They\u2019ll never ask the president if he was bowing, either. It would be pointless to, of course, but the press won\u2019t even ask. They\u2019ll be too busy trying to explain it away for Obama.<\/p>\n After all, as Chris Matthews said, it\u2019s their job to make straight his path, or whatever.<\/p>\n We saw that this morning, when the stupid, insanely biased press<\/a> rolled their eyes at those in the UK who minded Michelle Obama breaking protocol and touching Queen Elizabeth<\/a>. How dare those English criticize an Obama? Now that the Bush\u2019s are out of office, don\u2019t these people realize that anything the American President or his Spouse does is beyond critique? Hey, if it weren\u2019t for us, they\u2019d all be speaking German, and they\u2019d better get with the program!<\/p>\n Is Barack Obama secretly a Muslim or \u2013 if not a Muslim \u2013 somehow beholden to Muslim interests? I don\u2019t know. Still can\u2019t say. But it\u2019s a fair question, now. And I keep remembering this quote from a writer in the NY Daily News<\/a>, which is hardly a conservative bastion<\/a>:<\/p>\n During the campaign, a fellow journalist confided that \u201cI know Obama is a Manchurian candidate, I just can\u2019t figure out what for.\u201d I laughed then, but no more.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n ** President and Mrs. Bush gave Her Majesty a bronze statuette \u201cHigh Desert Princess\u201d with a personal inscription on the bottom of the base. It is a replica of the original life size statue that is located in front of the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Ft. Worth, Texas.<\/p>\n President and Mrs. Bush gave The Prince Philip an exclusive sterling silver eagle box by Tiffany & Co. with personal inscription on the inside lid.<\/p>\n President and Mrs. Bush gave Their Majesties a leather presentation box filled with a collection of documents from the National Archives. One of the items was a copy of an original letter from President Roosevelt to her father, King George, written in 1938. There were also photos from previous royal visits and a DVD of the footage from the Queen\u2019s visit to the United States when she was Princess Elizabeth in 1951.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Informative. Instructive.<\/strong> Some people project everything they are<\/em> onto others. Over and over again.<\/p>\n Heh. Maybe the Obama\u2019s mean<\/em> to give these awful gifts they keep bestowing on our allies. Perhaps they\u2019re sending a message. To whom? The whole world, baby. The whole world.<\/p>\n And if they\u2019re not sending a message, then they really need to fire their Chief of Protocol.<\/p>\n UPDATE I:<\/strong> After watching this video by Ed Morrissey<\/a>, I\u2019m more inclined to think, yes\u2026he bowed. He bowed deeply, to the Saudi King.<\/p>\n UPDATE II:<\/strong> No, he was not \u201cpicking something off the floor.\u201d Nice try, but Ed demonstrates that Obama\u2019s right hand was engaged with Abdullah\u2019s, and his left continuously at his side<\/a>. He wasn\u2019t picking up a gum wrapper. Wasn\u2019t looking for a contact lens. Obama was bowing. Press will ignore. That, umm\u2026almost doesn\u2019t matter anymore<\/a>. In his first 100 days, Obama will have dismantled our economy and our capitalist structure for the other model. I told you the coup would be nearly painless<\/a>, and here we are.<\/p>\n Oh, and while Obama was in Europe, it was the 60th Anniversary of Truman signing The Marshall Plan<\/a>. But no one mentioned that at the G20. The greatness and generosity of America went unremarked upon. \u201cSubmission Accomplished\u201d<\/a>.
