Everywhere that I turn, the media are asking, \u201cDid Trump go too far with his attack on Khizr and Ghazala Khan?\u201d as if this is the first time that he\u2019s \u201cgone too far.\u201d<\/p>\n

$\"donald-trump-1269282_1280\"$ <\/a>What is \u201ctoo far\u201d with Trump, anyway? Is it supposed to be the point at which somebody in the Republican leadership demonstrates a modicum of human decency by abandoning party tribalism and finally renouncing him?<\/p>\n

Is that the definition of \u201ctoo far?\u201d<\/p>\n

If that\u2019s the case, then we\u2019ve already got our answer. There is no \u201ctoo far.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump has already crossed so many lines that it should be crystal clear that political hacks like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell will continue their little game of either ignoring or tepidly criticizing his outrages.<\/p>\n

He led the racist \u201cbirther\u201d movement? Nothing.<\/p>\n

He called for deporting 11 million undocumented immigrants? Utter and complete silence.<\/p>\n

He promised to ban Muslim entry to the U.S.? Tepid opposition.<\/p>\n

He mocked a disabled reporter? Radio silence.<\/p>\n

He attacked Judge Curiel? Well, that was racist, but we still support him.<\/p>\n

He taunted Megyn Kelly, ridiculed Carly Fiorina\u2019s looks, and generally derided women? Nothing.<\/p>\n

He refused to release his tax returns? Crickets.<\/p>\n

He threatened NATO allies and embraced authoritarians? Mumbly promises that they\u2019ll reign him in.<\/p>\n

He question the sacrifices of a Gold Star family? Scattered remarks of disappointment.<\/p>\n

There are a few\u00a0Republicans demonstrating some backbone. Romney, Graham, the Bushes are among\u00a0politicos who have condemned him (though Jeb blamed Obama<\/a> for giving us Trump). And then there are the George Wills, Jennifer Rubins, and Eric Ericksons in the press.<\/p>\n

But for most Republicans\u2014the values party\u2014he\u2019s their man and they\u2019re with him all the way, no matter how far.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s time for the press to stop asking if he\u2019s gone \u201ctoo far.\u201d Republicans have gone all in with Trumpism.<\/p>\n

There is no longer anything \u201ctoo far.\u201d<\/p>\n
