Happy Canada Day!<\/p>\n

I have always felt an affinity for Canada.\u00a0 I\u2019ve enjoyed some wonderful vacation time there and found the place warm (metaphorically) and welcoming.\u00a0 It\u2019s also a beautiful country with much to see and do.<\/p>\n

Mostly I love Canada because it\u2019s where my partner and I were allowed to get married.\u00a0 It was over a wonderful and romantic American Thanksgiving weekend in Montreal.\u00a0 Many Canadians naively assumed that we could just as easily have done it in the U.S.\u00a0 We had to remind them that the U.S. rarely lives up to its hype as the \u201chome of the free.\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019m always very excited to return.\u00a0 This autumn I\u2019ll be in Toronto as a visiting rabbi at Oreynu, the Secular Humanistic congregation there.\u00a0 And once again I\u2019ll thank our northern friends for accepting me as 100% human and deserving of 100% of my human rights.\u00a0 So Happy Canada Day to all my friends there.\u00a0 May your Maple Leaf Banner wave joyfully today!<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
