I am watching the Channel 2 news from Israel.\u00a0 Rockets are dropping in southern Israel again, fired by terrorists in Gaza.\u00a0 I supported Operation Cast Lead and would do so again.\u00a0 I don\u2019t make false proportional comparisons between a nation defending her citizens and a bunch of radical Muslim terrorists hiding behind children.\u00a0 If those children die, their blood is on the hands of the terrorists.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve advocated withdrawal from the territories.\u00a0 I supported the disengagement from Gaza because it was my understanding that if they engaged in these attacks, Israel would know how to defend her citizens.\u00a0 Israel waited a very long time before Cast Lead, after seeking lots of alternatives.\u00a0 Personally, I think they waited too long.\u00a0 Because let me tell you, I\u2019ve been in a \u201cred alert\u201d in S\u2019derot and it was one of the most frightening experiences of my life.\u00a0 That\u2019s how terrorism works.<\/p>\n
Hamas, Islamic Jihad and their whole gang are religiously driven extremists who will never, ever accept Israel\u2019s existence in any form (and if they do, they won\u2019t be the groups they are today).\u00a0 If they escalate this violence again, I certainly hope the IDF doesn\u2019t wait years before shutting it down by force.\u00a0 I don\u2019t care if it makes the Palestinians and everyone else in the world angry, no nation has to sit there and take that.\u00a0 This is a conflict between two parties with legitimate claims who are going to have to divide the land.\u00a0 Until Hamas and company learn this lesson, there is no choice for Israel but military action.\u00a0 These religious fanatics are not fighting to get their fair share.\u00a0 They\u2019re fighting to eliminate Israel.<\/p>\n
Ultimately, I hope for peace and I won\u2019t shut up when I feel Israel is hurting (or at least not helping) her chances of achieving it.\u00a0 But no nation should have to put up with this.<\/p>\n
Yitzhak Rabin, of blessed memory, used to say that he would pursue peace \u201cas if there were no terrorism and fight terrorism as if there were no peace process.\u201d\u00a0 That is the only sane position when dealing with murderous religious extremists.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
