Mike Huckabee must be stopped.\u00a0 This man is a religious fanatic and putting him in the White House (if he runs) would be a disaster.\u00a0 Take a look at this twisted logic from an interview he gave to Fox Business Channel\u2019s \u201cFreedom Watch\u201d with Andrew Napolitano (via The Wonk Room<\/a>):<\/p>\n HUCKABEE: If we change the definition to a man or a man and a woman and a woman, why can\u2019t we accommodate a man and two women or a woman and three men. [\u2026]<\/p>\n There is a role that a father plays that is different than a role that a mother plays. The ideal relationship for a child is give them both. [\u2026] There is a Natural Law that supersedes even Constitutional and statutory law. That Natural Law that says it is wrong, to murder, to steal.<\/p>\n NAPOLITANO: If you became the President of the United States would you use your bully pulpit to address this or would you use your powers under the Constitution to address this?<\/p>\n HUCKABEE: Well, I think that the President uses both\u2026I would use both\u2026.if you have families that are dysfunctional, broken, and totally falling apart, that\u2019s going to be reflected in every level of government upon which government is built.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n What the hell is this hick talking about?\u00a0 Aside from his plain ignorance, or more likely, his outright lies about the effect of being raised with gay parents, his reference to Natural Law is nothing more than a mask for what he really means, religious law.\u00a0 He has the nerve to justify his homophobia by linking it to opposition to murder and theft.<\/p>\n Let\u2019s talk about polygamy.\u00a0 Polygamy is in the bible.\u00a0 It\u2019s all over the place in the bible.\u00a0 We have generally evolved beyond it because it\u2019s been made pretty clear that polygamous marriages, mainly engaged in by religious men, are usually harmful to the women.\u00a0 My libertarian strain objects to even prohibiting that.<\/p>\n But to link it to gay marriage is just blatant hatred.\u00a0 No one is born with a polygamous nature (at least not more so than anyone else).\u00a0 Only gays are legally prohibited from legal recognition of\u00a0 sharing their lives with another person.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve been accused from time to time of being too angry.\u00a0 Anger, followed by action, is the only appropriate response to this garbage.<\/p>\n I sure hope when he starts his run for president and begins his folksy visits to the talk shows that someone puts him in his place on this.\u00a0 The only reason to ban gay marriage is because you believe that God told you to.\u00a0 Period.<\/p>\n Lily Allen said it best.<\/p>\n
