Some of you have probably heard about the new federal lawsuit<\/a> filed in Pennsylvania by one Thomas Ritter, a retired science teacher, challenging evolution education.\u00a0 We have to continue to be diligent regarding these legal actions.\u00a0 However, in the case of this one, I think we can let our guard down a little. \u00a0Here\u2019s the full text (and a Scribd copy of the lawsuit<\/a>):<\/p>\n

    The Plaintiff is Thomas J. Ritter, Jr., an adult individual residing at 320 MacArthur Drive, Orwigsburg, PA\u00a0 17961.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    The Defendant is The Blue Mountain School District, 685 Red Dale Rd., Orwigsburg, PA\u00a0 17961.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Logically, The Blue Mt. School District does teach that evolution without the possibility of a Creator is the only explanation for the existence of life.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    {Number 4 was missing, but here is the paragraph which presumably was meant to be #4.}\u00a0 (The Blue Mt. SD does teach evolution.\u00a0 See BMHS biology teacher Anne Creyer\u2019s website @ http:\/\/cryerbio.wikispaces.com<\/a>\/.\u00a0 Kitzmiller v. Dover SD forbids any teaching of evolution that includes a Creator:\u00a0 \u201cID Policy violates the Establishment Clause of \u2026 the Constitution\u201d. -ID is Intelligent Design).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

    This teaching in unscientific.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  6. \n

    This teaching is actually Atheism (no Creator = no God).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  7. \n

    Objectively, Atheism is a religion, albeit a silly and unscientific one.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  8. \n

    This is like teaching Jesus is Lord.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  9. \n

    Defendant wants to tax Plaintiff to support its scheme.\u00a0 (See exhibit A)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  10. \n

    Plaintiff does object to supporting this scheme in any way.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  11. \n

    Wherefore, Plaintiff does ask this honorable Court to find the Blue Mt. School District is an illegal body so long as it teaches Atheism, and is thus not entitled to pursue any further actions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  12. \n

    And Colleen Hoptak, the District\u2019s tax collector, be enjoined from collecting any taxes until the District is again legal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    As you can see (in the Scribd link<\/a>) there appears to be no truth to the rumor that he wrote it in crayon.<\/p>\n

    As for his claim in paragraph 7, \u201cObjectively, Atheism [sic<\/i>] is a religion,\u201d I must offer my apologies to all of you.\u00a0 I know we were trying to keep it a secret, but I think he figured it out from the name of my blog.<\/p>\n

    In light of this development, I will have to call the Chief Atheist Rabbi and His un-Holiness, the Archbishop of Atheism so that we can plot our next moves.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
