We are loyal to our ideals and we are slow to change. There are good noble reasons for this, but we now find ourselves at a crossroads.<br><br>My solution to this a few years ago was to change from a Republican to an Independent. I wanted to be able to seriously consider the issues, without the demands of a political party telling me what to think so that their person could get elected or reelected. <br><br>I realize I don\u2019t get a voice in the primaries this way, but I feel like it gives me some freedom to make the best choice based on the evidence and what actually is true.<br><br>The problem with the Republican party today is that it has been co-opted by a former Democrat that has serious mental issues and, because he is a narcissist, cares mostly about himself and not about people. He doesn\u2019t care if we hate each other, because according to those near him, he despises his own supporters.<br><br>Covid and conspiracy theories further changed the landscape to a playing field that is almost unbearable. Truth seems to matter less than ever before. <br><br>Even many of the notable people of his party quietly wish he would go away, but find themselves in a conundrum where their party has been gutted and conformed to the will of this unhinged person. <br><br>My county is 75% red, and because they are loyal, they will tend to vote for this man who doesn\u2019t represent any of their values. <br><br>A former mentor of mine taught me that sometimes it\u2019s better to take a loss and regroup them to make winning the only issue. I have some respect left for red states because I know the people of my own county. But I request one thing from them this year because of where we are.<br><br>Please consider voting blue \ufffd to give your politicians a wake up call, because they are not the same party that your grandparents knew when they set you on this course. <br><br>I\u2019m sorry greedy politicians led us astray and caused us to hate each other unnecessarily.
