\u201cSome will cry because they are uncomfortable or because they are hungry,\u201d the pope said. \u201cIf they are hungry, mothers, let them eat, no worries, because here, they are the main focus.\u201d<\/p>\n
How awesome is that?<\/p>\n
Many mothers are reticent to breastfeed their children in public, particularly in \u201csacred spaces,\u201d such as houses of worship. Obviously if the pope himself doesn\u2019t have a problem with it, neither should anyone else.<\/p>\n
This isn\u2019t the first time Papa Frank has given his blessing to breastfeeding. Last month in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Stampa<\/em> the pope recalled a young mother who was holding her crying baby behind a screen at one of his general audiences at the Vatican.<\/p>\n\u201cI said to her: \u2018Madam, I think the child\u2019s hungry. \u2026 Please give it something to eat!\u2019 \u201d the Pope said. \u201cShe was shy and didn\u2019t want to breastfeed in public, while the Pope was passing\u2026I wish to say the same to humanity: Give people something to eat! That woman had milk to give to her child; we have enough food in the world to feed everyone.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
