Yes, he is loving, kind, warm, gregarious, charming, tender. But Papa Frank is also a bad ass and he\u2019s not afraid to tell it like it is.<\/p>\n

Take his homily this morning at Santa Martae, where, according to a report from Francis X. Rocca, Catholic News Service<\/a>, <\/em>Il Papa said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should all call ourselves sinners, yes, all of us,\u201d he said, but \u201cnot corrupt people. The corrupt man is stuck in a state of self-importance, he doesn\u2019t know what humility is,\u201d Pope Francis said, according to a report by Vatican Radio. \u201cJesus spoke to these corrupt men of the \u2018beauty of being whitewashed tombs\u2019 (St. Matthew 23: 27), which appear beautiful on the outside but inside are full of dead bones and putrefaction,\u201d the pope said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all know someone in this situation, and how much harm they do to the church,\u201d he said. \u201cCorrupt Christians, corrupt priests. How much harm they do to the church, because they don\u2019t live in the spirit of the Gospel, but in the spirit of worldliness.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Papa Frank expounded on the Gospel reading for today from St. Luke 17,\u00a0 in which Jesus says of those who would lead or cause others to sin:\u00a0 \u201cit would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea.\u201d<\/p>\n

What is the difference between sin and scandal?<\/p>\n

\u201cThe difference is that one who sins and repents, asks forgiveness, recognizes his weakness, feels like a child of God, humbles himself and asks Jesus for salvation,\u201d Papa Frank said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut what is scandalous about the other?\u201d the pope asked. \u201cThat he doesn\u2019t repent. He continues to sin but pretends to be Christian, (he leads) a double life.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
