<\/a>Sunday Morning Prayer \u2013 Based on Psalm 146<\/span>
\n(A Prayer of Confession)<\/h4>\nGood and gracious God,<\/p>\n
Sometimes our words
\nget in the way.<\/p>\n
Sometimes we allow
\nour words
\nto be the full extent of our actions.<\/p>\n
We say
\nthat we love someone,
\nbut our actions
\ncan seem less than loving.<\/p>\n
We say
\nthat we would hate
\nto see anyone go hungry,
\nbut we drive by
\npeople who have little to eat.<\/p>\n
We say
\nwe worship
\nthe Prince of Peace,
\nbut we back violence,
\nand division
\nin far too much of our lives.<\/p>\n
We say
\nwe want to help
\nmake this world
\na better place,
\nbut we continue to support
\nactions and policies
\nthat make the world
\na more difficult place
\nfor far too many people.<\/p>\n
Move us toward
\na closer relationship
\nbetween our words
\nand our actions.<\/p>\n
May our words
\nultimately seem trite
\nand a bit meaningless
\nin comparison
\nto our actions.<\/p>\n
May our love for you
\nshine brightly
\nthrough each deed
\nwe do.
\nMay that light
\nbe an encouragement
\nto others
\nto do the same.
\nAnd may each small deed
\nbe added together
\nas we begin to weave together
\na world where all life
\nexperiences your love.<\/p>\n
