It has been almost nine months now since my article \u201cPostmodern Biblical Authority?<\/a>\u201d was published on www.theooze.com<\/a>. I have heard many positive comments and some critiques, but nevertheless it has been a fun journey (it is funny how most of the critique has happened on the comments section of the article on The Ooze<\/a>). This article was not so much addressing the \u2018whole\u2019 of my view of Biblical authority (for that, read<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>The Last Word: Scripture and the Authority of God\u2013Getting Beyond the Bible Wars<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> <\/span><\/span><\/strong>), but rather it served as my attempt to explore the ability to hold to \u2018biblical authority\u2019 from a postmodern perspective.<\/span><\/span> Well, I am honored that Mark J. Boone has now written a \u201cresponse\u201d article to complement what I have already written titled \u201c Ancient-Future Biblical Authority: A Reply to Kurt.<\/a>\u201d He addresses the issue of biblical authority from a \u2018pre-modern\u2019 or \u2018patristic\u2019 perspective, rather than from the viewpoint of fundamentalism. I appreciate much of his approach (with some nuancing), and would like to hear your thoughts on a \u2018side-by-side\u2019 reading of the articles. How does pre-modern\/patristic readings help us understand biblical authority in a postmodern world?
