I\u2019ve been thinking about this a lot lately when it appears that we, in the USA, stand on the brink of going back into war.\u00a0 When I was younger I stood in picket lines with signs, attended peace gatherings, wrote letters and tried to keep up on all the current events.\u00a0\u00a0 Nowadays I\u2019m one of those that doesn\u2019t watch the news.\u00a0 It\u2019s depressing.<\/p>\n
Marianne Williamson posted a piece on Facebook today that talked about this and included these lines:\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019re living at a time when if you\u2019re not grieving, you must not be looking. But also it\u2019s a time when if you\u2019re not recognizing our power to change things, you\u2019re not realizing the power that lies within us. As they said in the 60\u2019s, if you\u2019re not part of the solution then you\u2019re part of the problem. And if you never look at the problem, then it never occurs to you to be part of the solution.<\/p>\n
Which reminded me that Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith said that the news was a \u201ccall for prayer.\u201d<\/p>\n
How will I serve the world?\u00a0\u00a0 Pray and pay attention to my thoughts.\u00a0 That\u2019s what I can do now. I have learned how powerful prayer is, and how easily my thoughts stray into the blame and shame game. What do they need that I can provide?\u00a0 My compassion \u2013 I am Love here to love.<\/p>\n
Dr Ernest Holmes wrote a very powerful \u201cPrayer for our Country\u201d years ago and I share it with you today.\u00a0\u00a0 Perhaps you might want to read it out loud, mindful of the truth that prayer does work, and that the intention and the attention with which you read can cause major ripples in the consciousness of humanity.\u00a0 Know this with me or all countries and all leaders as well as our own.<\/p>\n
Believing in the Divine destiny of the United States of America and in the preservation of liberty, security, and self-expression,I offer this, my prayer for my country;<\/p>\n
I know that Divine Intelligence governs the destiny of the United States of America, directing the thought and the activity of all who guide its affairs.<\/p>\n
I know that success, prosperity, and happiness are the gifts of freedom,
\nand are the Divine heritage of everyone in this country.<\/p>\n
I know that success, prosperity, and happiness are now operating in the affairs of every individual in this country.<\/p>\n
I know that Divine guidance enlightens the collective mind of the people of this country, causing it to know that economic security may come to all without the loss of either personal freedom or individual self-expression.<\/p>\n
I know that no one can believe or be led to believe that freedom must be surrendered in order to insure economic security for all.<\/p>\n
The All-Knowing Mind of God contains the answer to every problem which confronts this country.<\/p>\n
I know that every leader in this country is now directed to this All-Knowing Mind and has the knowledge of a complete solution to every problem,
\nand each is compelled to act upon this knowledge to the end that abundance, security, and peace shall come to all.<\/p>\n
And I know that this spiritual democracy shall endure, guaranteeing to everyone in this country personal liberty, happiness, and self-expression.<\/p>\n
